#10 Things BETTER Than Window Cleaning

OIf you were able to stop cleaning windows (and roofs/scratches/pressure washing/whatever else you currently do) tomorrow and make a complete career/business change, what would you do?

Is there a business in another industry that appeals to you?

Is there a “job” you’d rather have?

Did you have a passion… but window cleaning has taken you in another direction… and you’d like to return to it?

Would you sell up and travel the world?

Would you work part time and spend more hours with family?

Spend all your money on coke and hookers, then become a luxury car thief to pay your gambling debts?

Take a year off, recharge the batteries and come back to window cleaning because goddammit I love me some MF window cleaning yeaaaaahhh!

Something else?

There’s no right answer  I’m just curious

If I didn’t have to work all the time I would take care of my grandson every day.

I’ve always dreamed of being a long haul trucker. I just finished listening to this book recently. There are some surprising similarities to being a window cleaner.

I would love to do something more creative. Anytime I get to work on marketing materials it just feels so nice, so I would love to get some real training in graphic design (something I’ve always been interested in) and do that professionally.

Or professional gamer on YouTube lol

Police Officer.

I actually just got out of the window cleaning business to pursue a career in this. I wan’t to make a real impact on the world around me.

But currently I have a contract to change billboards (on the side of highways, roads and on top of buildings) and I absolutely love it.

Good question. I’m pondering this as I making a transition from window cleaning to who knows what. I would like to get into real estate perhaps flipping, but maybe at first staying/working on a little fixer upper for a couple years and sell and do it over again. Maybe one day I can be like @Kyle!

Go spelunking for jewels in Brazil? I could get into that. Or treasure hunting off the coast of Spain? That’s sounds kinda cool too. Ah well I guess I’ll just stick to cleaning glass until then.

Well, uh, uh,no I think I like it just fine where I am. I love the search (marketing) I love the chase (sales) I love finishing a pane, taking a quick look and realizing “no detail needed”. I love using low tech tools and leaving a home better than it was when I got there. I love knowing that no matter how hard the homeowner tries they can’t make their windows look as good as we can. And finally, I love getting that check. I earned it !!

Appreciate you comments @Emill. Are you new to window cleaning?

And can I invite you to answer the question I posed, too?

I’d probably give it all up if I could find someone to pay me $35k to bowhunt in the fall and winter and fish all spring and summer.

Songwriting. I can’t imagine how nice it’d be to have fat royalty checks coming in every month for the rest of your life. That, and hearing your music being played.
