good talking to you. You don’t seem to listen very much, so I’m done now. Have a good night.
Dish soap doesn’t suck that’s all I used for years your using way to much soap . When the weather gets below 35 you have to use even less soap below 30 yes you do need winshield wiper fluid . When I start my day an make my mix I put a little squirt in my bucket clean a window an see how I like my mix if I need a little more then I will add another little squirt why are you measuring just a little squirt try it an then another little squirt if need be. At 32 degrees the water shouldn’t freeze. Are u assuming that its going to freeze ? , And if you use to much soap that helps in the freezing process . BTW dish soap doesn’t leave a visable film if you squeegee properley also yes try different soap solutions its preference
I have tried them all an cant really say one sucks Wright now im using ecover with a little glisten. get a float bottle for your gg3 so you dont put to much in yes that i measure cause its coslty. Oh anther thing the sun is your friend in cold weather
Good points and well taken. Speaking of squeeging, I am still unsure when it is necessary to change rubber. At what point should rubber be changed? I wish there are pics on this forum to show what a worn squeegee will do
whe you put a new rubber on your squeegee feel the sharpnesss of the middle and the ends with you finger tip. The ends usually wear first
cause of the turn the turns when im carving not in your case though because yur pulling side to side there is nothing wring with pulling
some things side to side but you need to learn how to carve. on my 24’ squeegee i get beetween 5-7 days out of one side that is the squeegee i use almost 80% of the day ofcoure depending on the size of the glass im cleanng. If your rubber isnt performing right (streaking) take it out of the channel dip it in water an if it continues change it or flip it. Whn you get mre experience you will know when it is done. Dont buy the cheap rubbers
you get what pay for. I had and old boss of mine he use to buy 3 star and i had to cut my channel down to 22 need i say more. get ettore rubbrs or sorbo
thanks for the tip and I think I am still good. But my main problem is doing commerical storefronts does not pay a lot of money and when you consider most storefronts only pay $15 to $20, I am almost better off getting a job at mc donalds
It doesn’t matter if you work for yourself or you work for mcdonalds. If the person in charge of paying you thinks they can take advantage of you and pay you $6/hr, they will. Raise your prices, work faster, get more accounts and only then will you make more money.
As far as the rubber is concerned, look real close on the edges of your older rubber and then look at the edges of your new ones. see the difference? As the rubber starts wear it’'l round off. I don’t let it bother me till it starts to effect performance.
what i now plan on doing is only target maybe 4 small storefronts a day and then concentrate on getting large accounts like car dealerships
If you get 4 $15 store fronts right near each other and you can get one done in 15 minutes, your getting $60/hr, that’s better than McDonalds, isn’t it. If you get 3 done in the hour your at $45/hr. If the $15 jobs take you longer then 20 minutes they are underpriced and you don’t want them. Maybe look into doing residential windows, or come up with something you can offer a store owner to set you apart from other cleaners, and justify a higher price. It doesn’t need to be something grand or elaborate, just something to make you stand out. Like sweeping the sidewalk every other service, or knocking down cobwebs in high places.

you need to come to NOLA 14. I had a few beers with Bill and Linder this year, and Bill said he thought if you hung out with me you would learn to like me. Also, I never noticed your signature…but after hearing the Bill CC550 story… hahaha
i totaly agree with this and in spite of the fact my accounts are growing, i think it will be tough to have a route for everyday as it is hard enough to fill 8 stores in a row for one day and all in one area. I figure i will need to have 6000 accounts where then all 30 days out of the month will be filled. I have differentiated myself by doing an a+ job on every job regardless of how little they pay. I am even considering offering two packages, 1 that is where i use cheap soap and a quick job. Then a premium package where i use more expensive soap and the windows are pristine looking. What do you all think about that/?
Horrible idea. You either have a clean window or you don’t. Don’t try to sell them a dirtier window.
You flitter around from one idea to the next and back again, without even remembering what you have already said before. At 10:27 PM, in another thread, you said this:
hEY THANKS FOR THIS TIP! I DIDN’T ACTUALLY SIT DOWN TO SEE WHAT IT COST BUT NOW REALIZE GG3 IN 5 GALLON PALE IS CHEAPER THAN THE JUNK AT HOME DEPOT. ANYWAY WILL BE BUYING GG3
Now, at 11:11PM you mention “more expensive soap” again (in a thread about your ‘shorter squeegees work better’ theory). You don’t need to put so much focus on the soap. We all have our opinions, and if you stick with this, one day you will have your own opinion also and it will stink just as much as the rest of ours.
Some 13th Century French guy said it really well: “A bad workman will never find a good tool”. Just get good with your squeegees.
I know but if I don’t have 2 packages and they say no to my higher one then I don’t get the job. So by offering a similar substandard job which is mostly what I have seen, as I see lots of storefronts that have water drips, water marks on edges and sloppy work, in order to be competitive I need to have two different packages. It did work for me yesterday when a huge liqour store offered me $20 to do his car dealership sized store! The money didn’t even come out to 1 dollar per window so are you saying I am better off not even doing it? I did offer a higher package that was like 70 dollars and explained to him that for that price, I could make his windows look invisible. Fortunately I had my 36" squeegee so the entire job took only 35 minutes. Would you have done the same for that price?
Sorry to controdict again but after doing the math, the 5 gal pale of GG3 is 40 dollars per gallon where Unger at Home Depot is 16 per gallon. GG3 is a lot more. I am getting samples of GG3 from this company and will try it on dirty scum windows to see if that really breaks the soiled dirt better.
Horrible idea
Dude. I did all of the math you needed. I did it properly. You’re math tells you nothing that you need to know.
I’ve been trying to help you. I’ve been so patient. You really are unable to grasp anything and it really baffles me.
It’s not that I don’t like you, I don’t know you and in writing you can sometimes come across as a dbag. I don’t hold anyone’s forum personality against them in real life, well except for T. Evans he’s a straight up **** head.

That is the cost for the concentrate, when you mix them into gallons of solution you will get the prices Wws posted about. Are you new in this country?

What we have here is failure to communicate
Ya if your only doing one or two of them you should get a job @ Mcdonalds you could be there resident window cleaner get some experience. Then after work go out an do your stores. when your talking 15$ 20$ thats all they pay a 20$ per wash store takes me 10 15 20 minutes to clean. Whn your cleaning store fronts the idea is to have lots of them per day close by to make money
Your klling me man! just offer to clean the windows at the right price its a store front.
