I keep seeing people using direct mailings and (flyers) <-- like me. What about using a email ad to commercials instead of cold calling them do this first then maybe follow up? since you can get their emails online for the most part? I’m horrible at designing stuff like postcards/ads/fliers any takers?
you can not send random emails to people unless they give you permission.
search online for the canspam act.
You could get fined by the federal Government.
The problem is, even if you bought an email list, it is still spam. What do you do when you get email you dont know who its from and is obviously an advertisement? After you cool down, you wonder where they got your address from right?
I have thought about this too, and what I plan on doing is having a couple girls in front of a table at the local Vons, with all kinds of coupons and a raffle for a free window cleaning (exteriors only) and they would have to sign up with their email address, and they would be told we would send them emails on specials. Most people are cool with that, but if not, they wont give the email address anyway or a throw away address like I use.
If you really want to know about how to get more customers I would suggest to visit Kevins website. Also, hit up the other fellas on here like CFP, and a few others who really know their stuff. Be patient, and form a good plan, implement it and BANG- youre now busy and buying new equipment and on to the next marketing strategy.
but does anyone use craiglist? I made an ad but like CFP would slaughter me with is LOOKS LIKE CRAP!! haha, I’m not the best with marketing outside the box yet!
I know alot of people do, Kurt Kempton does, a few others. I used to, but as soon as I put it up, someone keeps flagging me. So I gave up. I only got one customer from it anyway and too many people in my area spam craigslist so much its rediculous. Some have gotton very good results tho.
The residential customers I target probably haven’t heard of Craigslist. I would consider it if it helped search engine rankings, though.
Most people on craigslist are looking for things dirt cheap - that’s just my opinion based on what I’ve seen in my local area though.
yeah now that you said that I started thinking I just got turned off by craigslist…
I read lots of people saying they had no luck with craigslist and a few saying they have had good luck with craigslist. I decided to setup a post that I renewed every 2 days for about 2 weeks. I almost gave up because I didnt get a single email and that would have been a mistake. Long story short I got a $1100 building once a year and twice a year I do their entrance for $200. So for a totally free service it can be worth it.
CFP can kiss my azz. Besides, anyone who uses an acronym with no meaning should not be taken seriously…
p.s. There is business to be had on craigslist if you have the time
to keep your ads running steadily.
If you are new to the game, why not?
Now thats funny, so how did you come up with cfp?
Customer factor Paul.

ha ha ha… that is true.
good one
you should use your old user name, i like that one much better.
who the hell is CFP?
I agree. If you are new and want to drum up business, no harm at that.
Back to craigslist for a second,
You want to check how much is everybody charging first and if it’s worth your time to even post anything.
In my area people advertising on craigslist have insanely low prices. I don’t think they end up making more than 10-15 an hour. Freakin crazy.
I wonder what kind of tools are they using and what kind of service are they providing.
But I still post because it’s free and takes 1 minute to repost a posting.
I’ve gotten calls from people who would rather pay extra for the service and be assured with the quality just because my ad looked lil more professional and included the website.
Also I got many calls from people and i thought i gave a generous offer and never heard back.
Or you can always charge people of craigslist cheaper and use the jobs as space fillers.
That is no more true than advertising in any other media
Why do people go to ebay? To get a good deal, right? People usually pay
more than the thingy is worth (I seen a study done on it, I’ll try and find it)
I have never altered my price on a craigslist ad and I have got MANY jobs
over the years.
Forget how you feel about it. You don’t matter a bit. That is why
most people can’t market their business at a high level. We love to create reasons
why it can’t work.
I GUARANTEE you it can get jobs. Just do the opposite of all the other guys
and you can create value, instead of eliminating it.
I prefer marketing that is not so passive and confined, but it does get some dollars
Craiglist only lets me post a few times per 15 days… so how are u keeping on the postings? and where are you primarily posting on craigslist? Just the services offered?
