A Tribute to my Competitors

When I’m “Cold Calling” to introduce myself and my services I like to leave something more than my business card and brochure. I also leave a post card with a thought on it like this one:

“A TRIBUTE TO MY COMPETITORS
My competitors do more for me than my friends. My
friends are too polite to point out my weaknesses,
but my competitors go to great expense to advertise
them. My competitors are efficient, diligent,
attentive, and would take my business away from me
if they could. They keep me alert and make me
search for ways to improve my products and
services. If I had no competitors I would be lazy,
incompetent, inattentive. I need the discipline they
enforce upon me. I salute my competitors they have
been good to me. God bless them all.”

At the bottom of the card it says, “Courtesy of Awning Cleaning Services 817-577-9454, Awning Cleaning & Repairs since 1984”.

Because this card says something interesting and thoughtful they seem to keep it and some even hang them on their bulletin boards.

Have a great day,
Wayne

Man, Wayne, I am glad that I am not in your competitive market. Oh crap…wait a minute…I am.

Well not really. You are much further south than I service.

But seriously, WOW. Nice thought going into the marketing.

Nice and inventive!

I really like that Wayne. Very well thought out.

Thats a different spin on things Wayne. Looking at this paragraph:

“If I had no competitors I would be lazy,
incompetent, inattentive. I need the discipline they
enforce upon me. I salute my competitors they have
been good to me. God bless them all.”

I would change it up a bit with:
“If I had no competitors I COULD JUST TAKE THE EASY WAY OUT AND BE lazy, incompetent, inattentive. I EMBRACE the discipline they
enforce upon me. I salute my competitors they have
been good to me. God bless them all.”

Just some random thoughts… Steve
