Angie's list will only list your business if you pay now

Yes , but be careful who you choose to do this also. You could get just as ripped :fearful:

I got another call today. Apparently there are more big changes they ā€œjust decidedā€ going into effect August 1.

They are going to change the look between paid advertisers and non-paying freeloaders. You won’t have a special badge, a company description, and your reviews will be hidden.

He told me how unfair it is for the guy paying $500 a month with 5 reviews isn’t getting as many calls as the guy with 1,000 reviews paying $0. For all we know the guy with 1,000 reviews could have gotten out of jail a few months ago as he put it.

Basically Angie’s List is going to try and say if you don’t pay you are not trustworthy. Forget about all those great reviews, the only reliable service providers are paying ones.

He also said they have to determine first if we have enough crews to service the area we advertise in. What a joke.

that is a joke

isn’t that along the lines of Yelp issues?

I keep hearing this and I’m also tired of Angies List and decided to create a truly free business directory aimed at only cleaning businesses. It just launched, but if anyone wants to add their business, feel free to do so. Heck, I will even give any of you a free one year premium membership (more options) if you want. Just ask. www.kleeny.com

Sorry if this seems spammy, but just trying to help promote cleaning businesses

No offense Kleeny, but no one is going to bother with a site like that. There are a million of them. The biggest of the small fish sites is probably Mantra and we’ve never gotten a single job from them. It is either Yelp, Angie’s List or Google search.

It will with proper SEO and advertising. I just hired a director of marketing and the ads will start running soon. Angie’s List is a sinking ship, and there needs to be something to fill the hole. It won’t be an overnight success, but I’m in it for the long game.

I just saw your other topic. I am not saying this to be mean, just realistic as a business. You would have had more success running that cleaning company.

Yelp and Angie’s List can charge so much because they get all the traffic. You are also competing against Google, Amazon, Consumer’s Checkbook, the Yellow Pages (online) and a million other sites that came before.

That’s a gamble I’m willing to take. If every startup company listened to the naysayers, there wouldn’t be any companies!

Sorry, but no. My wife has been bugging me for years to start my own web design and SEO company, but I’m too busy working on my own projects to help other people with theres. If you need SEO help, there are plenty of free tutorials online to get you started. It’s easier than you think.

Banned! account.

Dafuq? He was banned? or is now? Or did you just mean @Skipper?

Kleeny is banned. No way @Skipper is banned he adds excitement!

said it for me lol

It would be easier to break into a market with dozens of other window cleaning companies than starting yet another online business directory. Your whole pitch is your service is a lot cheaper. But you don’t seem to realize that the cost is based on web traffic and referrals. If I spend $1000 on Angie’s List I know I’ll get something back. In three years now I have never had someone tell me they found us on Mantra or any other of the directories I put our company on.
