That’s why I said you’ve got the area sown up and the only way they can make a sale is by lying. My hats off to you. I try to do the same thing.
Holy crap…
That advertisement was just disturbing.
Now I wanna buy some gloves.
You see advertisements?
I understand why you acted the way you did. We have been dealing with Fish franchises low balling the industry in our part of the country for a while now. While its been tempting, I’ve never called them other than to ask for references on someone applying for a position with my company. I get along with most all of my competition. There are about 5 of us companies that have a monthly breakfast and talk shop. We extended an invitation to fish but the have never responded. One nice thing about all of working together for the common good of the industry is that we refer work to each other for many reasons (if we are all booked, or if we don’t offer the same service (high rise etc) . These relationships have been a real help to all of us. If i ever get the job of a lifetime( great pay but too big for my company)I have 4 companies that would glady help me out and not try to steal the work from behind my back. Just a few thoughts about friendly and unfriendly competition.
My first experiences with other guys were all horrible. The first few months i was in business I met ALL of the idiots, greedy a-holes first.
I can name them. They lurk here.
so, it bought into the fight/flight mentality. Then I started meeting some of the real pros in my area. One or two lurk and one is a fellow. Matt.
I see now how valuable these relations are to me, them and the industry.
I suppose than since what we do is not brain surgery, it will attract the low-ball types. Maybe that is just the business world. But using ‘out of business’ as a sales tool…would get me into a position that would allow for a little blood shedding.
Lurkers be warned.
Yeah, but look what they listed under meals for the low cost
And background music by ELP, no doubt.
I have had 2 experiences with Fish. The first one was when a Fish rep offered one of my (uniformed) employees a job. The second was when a Fish rep called one of my clients and attempted to lowball my price. (She didn’t go for it).
I accept that there might be some ethical Fish franchise owners out there. However, the sheer number of instances of unethical conduct within the Fish organization would suggest that, at least at the corporate level, this kind of business practice is tolerated, if not actively encouraged. As someone already pointed out in this thread, if they are willing to lie about, or cheat their competition in order to make a fast buck, then they are not likely to put “people before profit” when it comes to their customers either.
this is one resurrected thread for sure
