Are you saying that if you fell off the roof the the anchor would tear out? Aren’t these primarily for keeping you from falling rather than stop a free fall?
Maybe one roof in ten I need to get on the roof itself if it’s not walkable in the first place.
I don’t know the details of the rest of the rig. I just assume there’s slack in the system at some point, and if it’s not a dynamic system, the shock-load on the anchor is extreme.
I honestly wouldn’t even lean back on a single anchor. There’s too many factors. One anchor in wood-rot and you’re toast.
On my bumper I use two locking chain links rated at 5000lbs each and use figure 8 knot to connect to both links an. I through the rope around tree us figure 8 knot and connect with another locking chain link
Good point.
Ive been reading, but trying to avoid this thread…
Because what Ive done isn’t the same as what I would advise others to do.
I have tens of thousands of hours doing chairwork.
But still get freaked out in a glass elevator.
It’s a “unsure what’s underneath” thing.
Meaning, I freak out INSIDE a glass elevator…
But would be fine, outside of it, hanging from a rope.
- because I had control of the setup.
Same thing, here.
