I received a call yesterday from a guy in New York who said he was with a firm that worked with Google Adwords (they all claim to be affiliated with google). He said he got our info off the WINDOW CLEANING RESOURCES FORUM, and was contacting people on the forum who have expressed interest in seo. I said I would get back to him later.
Anyone know who this guy/company is? And, is anyone else getting this type of call claiming to get your info off the forum?
I have not got contacted by this guy but I do get contacted all the time from SEO’s looking to rank up my site.
I am like “did you not notice I am already top ranked?”
I get REAL angry when they click on my PPC ad to contact me…
I got a call from a Yodel rep. He was after the same thing. Wanted to help me turn visitors to my website into calls for me. I said “no thanks”.
We dont authorize people soliciting the members here… Can you please forward me all his contact info?

I’ve received a few calls from companies claiming to be affiliated with Google and offering to help with SEO. This is BS. Google does not solicit this service. They believe in a level playing field and give free advice on SEO and what to watch out for when hiring an SEO company.
And like CFP mentioned, it also is stupid when they can’t even see you’re already top ranked on Google. :rolleyes:
That’s exactly right. They do misrepresent Google (google even says in their blogs they don’t work with anyone else).
I get angry too, cause the guy says he’s looking at the computer and can see I range from 1-5 placement on the first page for my keywords, but then insists they can do even better! Google says about these seo companies that no one can “guarantee” this since it is ultimately up to their algorithm - there is no human interference with the placement.
Yep, it’s a Yodel guy. Just spoke to him again. Evidently someone told him about this forum and he’s been going through it for leads.
Funny thing is I just googled “yodel” and they’re not even on the first page! That should be a keyword they should own!
I would highly encourage EVERYONE to not do business with this gentleman. I spoke with him today and he assured me he would stop contacting people, if anyone continues to get calls… Please let me know!

I havent got these calls to my knowledge. I do get alot of calls from the Internet yellow Pages (hello my nam is dabid, Is dis steve? - My india impression :rolleyes:) I got sick of it last week and found this website that has the wav file you can download for telemarketers. It is basically the three tones that the Telezapper device sends out to call generated computers. It will (or they say it will) take your number out of their database (acts like the number is disconnected). The website is here: http://www.astreet.com/article.php?sid=213 . I will keep everyone posted on how it works out. I downloaded the file to my desktop and click on it while holding the phone up to the speaker. I really hope this works. They are resorting to using my 1-877 number and it could get expensive!!!

I read an article a while back where a guy has no job and all he does is fill out crap from mail and what not…he gets a call from the telemarketers that he filled his name and phone number out on and asks them to take him off the dont call list. if my memory serves right, they cant by law call you after ur name is on the list (he would write down the the telemarketers name and company as well as date and time) and when this guy got called again from the same company he would take them to court and then the company would settle out of court for an amount since the cost of lawyers and what not on the company in question could be costly. This guy claims he made 30k a year doing this…this was published in a magazine…i cant remember what one though.

Total Scam! I have used Google Adwords for years on several different businesses. Google will not call you to see if you’re interested.
If you are already on the first page for all the keywords and terms you are trying to position for then their is no need to use adwords unless you want your ads to show up on other peoples websites who have related content to window cleaning.
However I am not convinced that for the window cleaning industry, placing ads on others websites is worth the cash you will spend as I doubt most people find their window cleaners on other window cleaning related sites although you never know.
If you are trying to rank well with particular keyword searches and so far you are not then Google adwords might do the trick. You get to set your budget so its worth a try. Its easy to sign up and get going.
I have tried yahoo and msn versions of adwords and I personally think they stink! I have never had any success with those and only wasted money.
Also you might consider Google Adsense. This is a great way to pay for your adwords by having google ads on your site. I pay for my adwords this way and I make $300-500 per month from adsense and spend about $150 for adwords so it is also profitable for me.
