I dont base my window cleaning prices per window…I charge 50 - 80 an hour for my services 30 for helpers…I come out with great pay every time and never underbid or over bid the job…
Yes sir, we’ve been at those rates or higher for the last 6 months. Just a basic wet/wash on the screens for that price…we upsell screen magic 100%…yes 100% of the time. (after a demo). That stuff is just so awesome we could charge whatever we wanted.
My guys are not that fast so I may have to charge a little more.
Overall, our target demographic is probably the same, but we just have a lot more of it here in Austin. As for as the real window cleaning companies in the area…we are all right about there with our pricing.
How many of those 100 window homes can you do in a day at $240.00? 100 windows inside and out on a single story home will take a good employee 6-8 hours so 25.00 per man hour? Those prices are dookie! the 1-18 exterior only is the only price you listed that makes sense, the other prices make none at all.
Many years ago in a very different industry, I was told that “when you quote on price alone, you will lose. There will always be someone cheaper.” The exact same is true with window cleaning. You need to look at the value you bring, what you want to earn, and what is fair for the both of you. Starting out, I looked at all the info online about what to price(craigslist, competitors sites, WCR, etc and what “I” thought was reasonable to pay for cleaning), but the truth is, I price on what my time is worth and the value and service that I can deliver. Price based on the value you can deliver. The ideal customers you want are willing to pay for your service and they will pay well. Not to mention they refer their friends. I prefer to work 50% of the time for 100% of the pay versus 100% of the time for 50% of the pay. The extra 50% of time I have allows me to focus on gaining more of the right customers. If you close 100% of your quotes, you are doing something wrong.
Well having your competition in the same ballpark helps. I heard “y’all are so expensive!” about three times today. I might just have to move up to Austin I like your idea about demoing screen magic; might have the guys start doing that
Sorry for taking so long to respond however working for peanuts and paying taxes on them takes quite a bit of my time. ha ha (Im not joking).
Diamond Ridge “What is your ultimate business goal?” . The answer to that is to run a professional successful profitable business I can get into hella details but If your really interested give me a call. 720-366-9027
I am switching up my prices Immedietly and looking to sit in the area of 6-8 dollar/window average(For Now), and as far as where I am at with things I am really trying to move out of my start up phase and push forward with a first quarter recap but my life has been like a bad quinten tarantino movie.
Im getting this thing organized and looking better everyday I praise you guys for virtually slapping me up and will plan on putting more than my two cents in to this site once I serve and collect.
ps I have a sectional 22 ft werner ladder that opens to about 18’, could I run into trouble on house with gutters bigger than 18’ or could I just spider man em?
Reason I ask is because that is going to impact pricing. If you want to be a one man show obviously you are going to be able to charge less than if you want to build a business with employees that do all the labor. The key is to build a customer base that is going to sustain your ultimate goal. So if you want employees don’t build a customer base based on owner/operator prices. Whatever your ultimate goal is start pricing that way NOW so that it is sustainable
Thanks for driving that point home Ryan. I heard the same from a number of companies. They all tell me that they up sell Screen Magic every time because it demonstrates so well. They demo it by grabbing one of their dirtiest screens and spraying a corner of one and say “for an extra $$ I can make all of your screen look like brand new”. They usually charge from 1-5 dollars per screen. I’m also told that they get A LOT more jobs because they are offering something that none of their competitors offer. It sets them apart from their competition, the screens look great, they save time, and most importantly they make more money per job. How do your guys demo it Ryan?
Those window rates are way low, but the gutter pricing isn’t bad if you schedule it right… gutter jobs are quick, and can be scheduled for really wide blocks (like a week) if you give ample notice and such, and routed for extreme efficiency or used as filler between your window jobs.
