yikes! Don’t be over confident because you can’t be everything to all people.

No but we can keep reaching for perfection. That’s what keeps us building.
Cant find this on the online version…
but thats for the feedback
We use online qb, and for whatever reason, on an iPad, it doesn’t show up. But on android device it does. Just go to customer page, hit the + to get drop down, and one of the options, among invoice, estimated, is “create appointment”. Hope that helps.
Looking for the best solution right now?
One word: Upvise
I’m on my second year. It’s not for just service biz but it does everything I need. I’ve tried the others and they all have something big missing.
Right now its better than Jobber and HCP. $12 a month, offline usability, most reliable mobile app… free 30 day trial.

Why is it better?

Well with upvise you can invoice and estimate from the field. Seamless offline function. You have a jobs, tasks(for call backs) and event calendar. Custom fields for contacts and jobs. invoice/estimate customization. Tags, job groups, custom forms, reoccurring jobs. Tech permissions, GPS tracking, Google maps integration, notes, etc… Partial payments… I keep looking around for all this plus cc processing but cant find it. But square is fine.

I’m struggling with this very dilemma right now and have looked at many many options. Having used QB off and on for years, I’ve finally kicked it to the curb in favor of Freshbooks. As was mentioned there is no perfect application out there (sadly), only some that are slightly better than others. Our biggest challenges is that we have several lines of revenue streams and each requires a different quote based system.
I do appreciate the feedback that has been shared in this thread and will be checking out Upvise. I’ve not come across it and appreciate reading about it here.
From a CRM perspective I’m giving serious consideration to Zoho CRM. It integrates with Mail Chimp, Freshbooks, Setmore (online scheduling app), plus a service called Answer Connect which will operate as our office line with a live body. One of the key components that will help bring this all together is a service called Zapier. It triggers actions in each of the aforementioned products which automates a nice bit of backend work. While this is all a work in progress, if it comes together life will be much better.
I’m also working on adding GoodHire into our interview process via a Typeform entry system. Everybody that comes onboard is vetted - it helps lower my insurance rates and helps to reduce the potential problem children.
Most importantly the above all work with Stripe which is my payment system of preference. While Square and PayPal work just fine, the integration for Stripe is seamless and comes at a lower cost per transaction. Plus as you drive higher volume, Stripe is willing to provide lower rates because of your activity.
The go-live date for all of the mayhem is the end of October. Many many sleepless nights ahead…

Has anyone tried The Better Software Company? I had a demo and could see some perks. In the field estimating implementation was a positive feature. Continuous support from training staff.
I just started getting emails from them. Have you jumped on board? They claim to have been around for 11 years, but this is the first I’ve ever heard of them.
I’m with HouseCall currently, but I’m starting to get a little antsy about some features I really need. It’s been a while since I’ve seen any app updates from them…
Yeah me too,
I cant even remember signing up for them either!?
Im with TCF so it will take a majorly good system for me to move on… and im not prepared to trial anything else for now.
what do you mean it syncs with quick books???!!! and do you mean quickbooks desktop or online?
QB online. And yes, the appointment function automatically syncs with Google calendar. Used it today.

No, I didn’t sign on. Needed a longer demo to have a better idea. The only thing I can say was salesman was helpful, kind and not pushy. Price offered was at $70/ month with 6 months free. However there was a discounted activation fee of $500 still putting me at comparable costs. Decided to try House Call free app for the moment. There concept is fantastic for free version. Unfortunately I have been having issues with app when creating estimates. I go to schedule an estimate for a time later than what current time is and error message… can’t schedule a time in past. Estimates created will show up in invoice tab. Things like that which are annoying. Even though Service CEO is $95 a month it almost seems worth it. Much success to everyone.
I’d like to see images as a thumbnail, and not as a text “attachment.” (Drive and Hcall)
I’d like to do a ‘one click’ notification like Housecall without having to worry about turning off notifications
so cust doesn’t get a text everytime I make a change.
I’d like to be able to edit recurring jobs in the past (say I did it yesterday instead of tomorrow)
I’d like to be able to print invoices on the fly, in my truck.
Lets face it, anyone can create a calendar with jobs/times on it…
It’s the REST that we are searching for!
And sometimes default ‘advantages’ should be a clickable “choose to” item.
