BNI Networking or pound the pavement?

Edit: to the OP and people interested in BNI, I apologize for hijacking yet another thread.

Check the post count. I have posted here more than a few times. I have nothing against JfromtheD. He seems like a really cool guy, and if anything, I have just had some joking banter with him online (though minimally, at that). So again, please chill out with calling out strangers on the internet, in a forum you just joined 6 months ago.

Guess it’s my turn.

Eh, forgettabout it. It’s all good.

Michael’s “apology accepted” post was nice. So he had to follow it up. But what do you expect from a guy who wears fitted hats?

You’re a good 'un JaredAl

I think this is a good break down of ROI. It’s my experience that, yes, you can make at least $6-8k in a half way decent BNI group. If you get in a high octane group that does push referrals, you should be able to do a lot more than that. If.

But $500 is about the price of a yellow page ad for most people (some people pay that per month) so replace yellow pages with BNI and check it out.

If you’re lucky to live in an area with more than one group, visit all of them twice before joining. Find one with a natural fit for you (carpet cleaners, maids, janitorial, realtors, etc).

Some groups suck you in by making sure you have a couple of referrals before leaving. I think it’s great because it shows you that they’re serious about your business.

On blast.

How many referrals did you give out? How many 1 to 1’s did you do? BNI is all about building and nurturing relationships, the big payoff often comes a couple years in. That sounds like a great group, I’d definitely join.

What is the matter with your signature, anyway?

 God bless you guys…

I’m abrasive and can be rude/crude quite often.
But just realize that I am hardly EVER angry. And I’m pretty much always smiling.

Keep in mind- my closest/dearest friends and I are RUTHLESS to each other, so it’s just what I’m used to
If and when you guys decide pick on me, I’m alll good with it.

I did a lot of 1 to 1. Problem I have is I do give referrals but not a ton. I mean I can only give what I have to give and some weeks thats nothing. The thing I didn’t like about BNI is they try to train you to focus on BNI more than your own business. Im not spending my time looking for referrals, I’m spending my time looking for business. If someone asked for a referral I was more than happy to give them one.
