Does anyone charge a cancellation fee? How much do you feel is an appropriate amount? Does anyone have a sample proposal with a cancellation?
Well we have a $125 cancellation fee… the sum of the deposit they have left with us. We never really collect it though it … its just there to keep people on the schedule and not cancel for weird reasons like rain.
We have a fee if we get out to the job and find out they don’t want it done or they forgot or whatever. We base it on distance traveled and men that came. we rarely see the money from the customer though, as they will go with someone else or they had no intention of doing the work in the first place. We probably should put it somewhere on our forms though.
the only way that you can get any of that money if they cancel is doing what Chris does, credit card deposit. Even if you put that on your quote sheet you don’t have an “easy” way to enforce that payment.
BTW, I don’t use any of that.
