I find it’s pretty easy to clean the larger wood/plastic blinds by hand without removing them and they look pretty great afterwards. I don’t see mini blinds too often, but I generally offer to simply dust them since cleaning them would bend them up and I haven’t tried removing any yet (not even my own in my house)
I’ve been charging $2.00/window covered on the big blinds. If they cover one double hung, approx 2 feet wide, thats $2. If it covers a set of two double hungs, it’s $4, etc.
I would like to up it to 3. What do you guys charge?
We don’t have any metal mini blinds here and i don’t offer the service as much as I should, but when I offer it I take the blind outside to clean it. I’d be around $15-20 depending on size and quantity. Once I got $35/piece, doesn’t happen everyday …sadly
I charge $15-20+ for wood blinds. $20+ depending on the size of the slat. 1 inch slats are twice the work.
For metal blind I am right at $11-14 for a normal size blind. I consider a normal size blind being less that 6x6 feet. Anything bigger and I will increase the price depending on the time I think it will take me to do it.
Any blinds such as cellular and duets I will clean in the ultrasonic for $18 a blind.
Hi Scott,
Do you charge for Plastic vertical blinds or faux wood same as metal blinds $11-14?
When cleaning wood blinds you just use Murphy Oil on one rag and wipe with other wet rag? I thought that only Murphy oil can be used and let dry, no water.
Thanks for all info about blinds gold information I will be adding blind cleaning to my business.
Thanks
For vertical blinds I either do them by hand or out side with DI water depending on how dirty they are. I will also charge $1-2 per slat. If the faux wood do not have any wood in the construction I will charge and wash same as the metal mini’s. If they do have a wood/pvc/plastic composite I will wash like I do full wood blinds. When using murphy oil I do dilute it with water. I normally use huck towels and dampen the towel with the murphy/water solution. If the blind is really dirty I may use more than just a damp towel. For surface dust all you really need is a damp towel and a good wipe down.
I use a trucker brush. I like them because they are soft, made for trucks and cars. If you can’t find them at the hardware stores a good place to look is the auto part stores. If have a Truck stop that is where I normally go. Hence the name of the brush. If you would like up close pictures let know and I will post some up.
