Clean Tank?

Hey Everyone,

Question, I just got my 275 gal. tank. Its one of the big ibc totes with a metal frame around it. It had some kind of pesticide in it, to kill gypsy moths. I just finished comepletely rinsing it out with a hose and regular tap water. I got it as clean as I could. So, I put some 50 gallons of water back in it to test how clean it was just from rinsing it out. The TDS of the water coming out of the tank is exactly the same as the TDS of the water going in. Do I call it good? Or do you think I should hit it with some bleach or some other cleaning product?

Honestly, I was a little suprised at this. I was planning on using something to get it truly clean, but now I’m not sure. The tank has the little recycle triangle on it with a 2 inside it, and it says PE-HD, under the triangle.

As a side note, the water coming out of my old garden hose added 3 ppm to my tap water. The TDS went from 057 to 060, I checked it several times.

Thanks again,

pe-hd = polyethylene ,high density / the type of plastic . it can be welded if ever you get a split

From the golf course experience that I have as a spray tech. There are tank cleaners out there to clean them. Lesco was a company that we had dealt with or you can check out golf course/park maintenance type supply companies. We would do a triple rinse with agitation to get the nasty out.

Milton steriliser tablets/solutions was the name banded about a few years back. Never used them, but some people said it did the trick.
