Try “CDG Commerce”…very good reviews and the best customer service in the world. Very low rates for small business accounts. I only have half a dozen cc customers, but they will only pay with a credit card. Do a search of “Credit Card Merchant service providers” CDG Commerce is at the top. Square had too many problems with the card readers and closing of accounts. CDG has incredibly low fees, and they are available 24/7 for any problems (none so far). They are located in Virginia. Good luck, and no offense to those that like Square.
One important thing to keep in mind. Some of the companies hold on to your money for several days. CDG Commerce is pretty quick about the transfer of funds. I don’t watch it real close but think it is around 48 hours or less. If you call them they can answer any questions.
So percentage wise, how many people ask you if you take credit cards?
I have never had a customer say they won’t use us because we only take check or cash. They don’t even need a checkbook, they can use their bank online bill pay.
There are three problems with using credit cards. One being the additional fee. Two being the security concerns. The third and biggest is the customer has a third party to dispute payment. If the credit card company decides against you (easy to do if the customer outright lies) then you can lose the money.
Of course a check can always bounce, but writing a bad check is against the law.

Honestly I would prefer taking cash, but I just started my business so I have 0 customers right now, and need to throw out the largest net I can.
We do over 25k in credit card charges a year. I would say it’s a huge benefit to our business, even when we were smaller.
Besides, in case you didn’t know, the fee you get charged by whoever you use is business tax deductible

I looked at Square but their anti Second Amendment stance turned me away. I do not like to give money to people who want to deny my Constitutional Rights.
I went with Intuit. I only pay when I swipe, manual input is more expensive, but I get the money deposited in 2 or 3 days.
Considering my daughter is the current and 2 time J3 USA Shooting National Olympic/Bunker Trap Champion, Second Amendment issues are important.
I have to look into this. I may have to drop square. I’m sure pay pal’s stance it’s no better.

I wonder if location has anything to do with how people like to spend their money? It’s very rare people even think to ask if they can swipe a card with me. Around here, it seems, most people assume they should just write a check or pay cash. Does offering credit card payments make it easier to get more residual income? If so, how?

I am on the pre-purchase list (already put a deposit down) for the new readers that will come out this fall that will process the cards with the embedded chips
I think this may have gotten a tad off-topic, but I just have one question regarding the issue with square (and other processors) refusing to do business with gun dealers:
Do you boycott banks and other brick and mortar places of business that prohibit guns from their premises? They do that, presumably, to protect themselves from risk, either real or imagined. But I wouldn’t say they are taking an “unconstitutional stand” on the subject. Square is doing the same thing, trying to protect themselves from either real or imagined risks. And they’re not the only processing system that has decided to avoid those risks. You’ll need to do your homework if you really want to only support companies that will work with gun brokers. A quick google search reveals that Intuit has (or at least had until recently) a “no guns” policy.
edit: btw, I’m not trying to be a smart alec. I’m genuinely curious about this boycotting concept
Same here!! I haven’t had much resistance to not accepting credit cards. Most people are cool with paying check or cash.
Do you think we lose business because of not accepting credit cards. ?? Hard to tell. Most people don’t ask. Or if they do it’s what forms of payment do you except. If I say cash or check they’re ok with it. I have been ask if you except credit cards nit that often though.
Until that bug commercial job comes around that says were only paying by credit card I’m staying checks or cash.

Yes, yes I do.
We have a local forum here in my area where we post threads about the businesses who allow/support concealed/open carry and those who do not. I do not patronize a business when they tell me I am not allowed to protect myself or my family. I will not support a business who tells me I am not entitled to exercise my Constitutional Rights. The only thing these businesses understand is money, so I take mine elsewhere. Until the sheeple begin to understand they are crafting their own chains, they will continue to get fleeced.
There is a lawsuit filed here in Tallahassee over the shooting at the FSU Library. Two of the victims shot were Military veterans with concealed carry licenses. Because FSU disarmed them in order to enter the library (Gun Free Zone) they were helpless victims, but yet, FSU claims they should not be held responsible for what happened. Isn’t it ironic that the White House has quadrupled down on security and beefed up the super fence surrounding the grounds, but leaves the borders of the nation completely open and lets anyone walk across? Does it not seem curious that the likes of Bloomberg, Schumer, Boxer, Soros, Shannon Watts and the rest of these gun grabbers tell us to disarm while they walk around protected by armed security?
bumblebee, I definitely respect your position, especially because of the consistency in your stand. While the right to bear arms isn’t something I choose to exercise personally, there are other freedoms protected in the constitution that I do. And I am very grateful to those who have made the sacrifice to “defend and legally establish” such rights in the higher courts.
I agree with you. My position is that if we don’t defend ALL the rights enumerated in the Constitution, we will soon have none. I may hate your speech, but I will defend to the death your right to say it. And when you consider the way the Politically Correct crowd is chipping away at our rights, if we lose the rights enumerated in the Second Amendment, soon they will all be unprotected and gone.
Please re-read the Declaration of Independence, especially from the 4th paragraph to the end. Where are we today?
I couldn’t even tell you where my check book is. I’m sure my wife knows. It’s 2015. Get with the times. People don’t just use credit cards. I hardly ever have cash on me. I use my check card most of the time.
I much prefer my customers using their credit or check cards instead of giving me paper checks. The money gets deposited into my account within a day or two and I don’t have to drive to the bank and make a deposit.
The more options I give my customers to be able to pay me, the better, in my opinion.

You should look into mobile deposit. Just take a picture of the check with your smartphone.
I have used square for a number of years without any problems until my reader just recently went out so I have to type in the info manually. I saw another one at lowes and looked into it. Pay Anywhere has a free reader and the first few thousand dollars in transactions were free. Doesn’t seem to have good reviews though and sounds like a scam.
