I received a first-class letter in the mail a few days ago from Dun & Bradstreet stating that one of their customers requested my business credit file, but that my record status is incomplete. Is this a legit thing and what exactly is this for? Search is giving me the impression that it is legit and maybe it’s related to my recent bid for a government job, but I’d like to hear a bit more before calling and giving them any information.
d&b is well known and very long established. never heard anything bad about them.
they are not like bbb
Why would a client pull a D&B?
Seems more like a competitor would do that
I wouldn’t respond, if it’s somebody stating they are DnB to get your information that’s a whole new situation that you don’t want to be in
Dun and Bradstreet are legit… but I don’t think they bring anything to the table for window cleaners. Now, if you’re in construction, an architect, or some other field that requires you to have access to 20 million bucks, then might be good to establish a rep on D&B.
Yes its for real and they are legit, I highly doubt its a competitor because a credit report on another business is freaken expensive.
Since you have the free account and all, they try and get you to upgrade to their paid membership so you can run credit reports etc. The membership ain’t cheap and like Jared said, they really don’t bring nothing to the table to justify a paid membership at all.
However, I’d work on that profile tho. It WILL help you on big prevailing wage jobs tho because there will be janitorial outfits who will check out your history etc to make sure you can handle something large scale and not bale out before its done, or handle the payroll.
I’ve had government employees purchase my report several times in the last 5 years.
