Ettore angle adapter is Junk!

Junk I tell You!!

Totally!

Mine is lost in the back of my work truck. Forgotten about until you reminded me.

Not quite junk - but heavy!

What do you mean? Please be clear and concise.

To be fair to the Ettore Angle Adapter, the Unger Cranked Angle Adapter is a little heavier.

Why is the Ettore junkie? I would like to know as well. I would like any and all feedback on any product that I sell.

Thanks.

If you want a headache free angle adapter the Wagtail is the best one I have tried. Much better than the 2 Unger angle adapters I have. Lighter and no flex at the joint. Of course it isn’t adjustable, but that’s OK because the angle is perfect.

The angle adapter has a bad fit in the end of the ettore pole. The silly plastic “ring and pin” does nothing for stability. Its just there to keep your current tool from popping off and falling on your head. Not a snug fit, very wobbly. Also, the Ettore Backflip doesn’t fit well on the pole tip when in the combo position. Alone and separated as two different tools, they fit great. Together as a unit, very shakey on the Reach pole. Will probably work better with a basic pole tip. It seems the little metal button gets in the way. Backfllip is solid when positioned like the viceversa. In wash and squeeguee mode it doesn’t perform as a single unit, heavy wiggle action from the squeegee. However this can easily be cured by slipping a bit of the washer sleeve between the scrubber handle and squeegee handle. This makes me wonder if the people at Ettore wash windows windows with their own products.

Sounds like the issue you are having is more to do with the locking tip as opposed to the angle function. The locking tip works best with the ‘Pro’ series of ettore tools. This is one gripe of mine. Use a Ettore Backflip, or an Ettore Super system handle and it’s an akward fit.

My solution is to install the older style standard Ettore tip.

See my review on locking tips.

Yeah - I was thinking of the Unger when i posted that.

I’ve been a little disappointed with a lot of Ettore stuff of late. The 2 adjustable T-bars I had snapped, the new cone is horrible (break a window when you take tools off) & the feedback in the UK is disgusting. I had a word with them at the UK show - they just shrugged their shoulders. They didn’t even know you could get a different Contour handle to take the Slayers. I felt I was teaching them about their own products. I don’t know if the HQ is in the USA - but I’d wish they’d have a word with them!

Sounds like the boys and girls at Ettore need to hit the pavement and clean some windows with their own equipment.

I bought one of those adapters and thought it was crap too. I think that the part of it that meshed together (Like two gears) stripped out on me with little pressure to it. I use them with the screw on gutter spoons to get leaves out of treacherous roof valleys that are straight up. Maybe I was using them for the wrong purpose? It lasted about 5 minutes and was history. I went back to the MR. Longarm ones and havent had an issue whatsoever. My .02

What is the main thing you use an angle adaptor for?

I tried one on a high window once and couldn’t figure out what to do with it.

It didn’t work well.

I’ve been using ettore angle adaptors for years and haven’t had any serious issues with them. They will eventually break if you put alot of pressure on them and the locking mechanism is a little tough, but I’m quite happy with it’s actual performance.

+1

Merv,
The simple use for an angle adapter is it turns your squeegee into a ledger, but it does much more than that.

Most of the fancy pole work in this Advanced Window Cleaning commercial for a DVD you can buy is done with an angle adapter on the pole. The actual video you buy is better.

I didn’t see much done there at all with an angle adaptor. You don’t need it for high windows in general. I have ledgers and a zero degree handle as well as a wagtail. Some windows have a very deep ledge and it might help to see it there because that would take some trial and errror. I would like to see that.

The fancy pole work with the longarm bent pole is a waste of time IMO. I have one. It isn’t needed. The regular way is just as good and doesn’t put as much strain on your back. To me that is basically showing off more than just getting the job done.

Some of the other stuff I saw there was basically showing off with a towel and a squeegee doing a dance in tendem. It isn’t necessary. Also there is no music playing in the background when I wash windows so it isn’t a stage performance.

What we need is how to do something unusual that takes time to figure out. Forget the rest. I think the angle adaptor has potential for that. Most of the other stuff you can figure out for yourself. It is just a matter of repetition.

I’ve got several. I use them for my wfps. I’ve never had a problem with any of them, and I’ve put them through a lot of abuse. I’ve always been concerned about breaking one, that’s why I have more than one. But, none have ever broken.

I’ve had one Mr. Longarm adjustable, cost me $2 at Home Depot. It did break eventually, but I figure I got my money’s worth on it as it lasted for a few months for $2.
