First time with a squeegee

Isn’t squeegee pros a franchise? Did you start the franchise?

No. It’s not a franchise. I started the business 24 years ago. My company is set up as if it was and I even toyed with franchising my business model but decided to go the licensing route instead, hence WindowWashingWealth.com/special offer. Meaning keep your company name but copy my business’ playbook to get to the next level.
I enjoy helping people in the industry whether they work with me or not. Always open to a phone call.

So I’ve been playing around and practicing some with the squeegees. I got the Ettore initially, but have since bought a Sorbo as well as the Moerman Excelerator.

I really like the beefy feel of the Sorbo but it seems to grab a lot more than the others. When fanning if I hit a dry spot or something it really grabs and stops my momentum. Anyone else have this issue? Maybe this is a good thing, but it just seems to stick to the glass a lot more than the others.

I actually really like the way the Moerman feels and it glides really good, but I seem to have to apply more pressure to it than the others. It’s actually leaving a little strip of water like the rubber isn’t touching the glass in a small area. So I really have to apply more pressure to it to get rid of that small strip. Sound familiar to anyone? I‘’LLC attach a pic and maybe you can see what I’m talking about.

my recommendations
$0.02 worth

  1. if you hit a “dry” spot you screwed up by not mopping correctly (not enough soluton, too slow squeegee-ing, etc.) and you are leaving spots and streaks, you should not hit a dry spot. Your solution is your friend and savior.
  2. sorbo: raise the handle a little more from the glass (increase the distance from the glass). One of my helpers only uses sorbo and does awesome work.
  3. moerman: make sure the rubber is straight, no ripples, and cut ever so slightly shorter than the tips. if this is still an issue see #2 for sorbo solution. This is a doozy to master but when you do it’s a dream on detail work. I live by and love the excelerator and I love the ettore brass modified to the moerman handles. play around with the modified versions. it’ll cost you $20-50 but you’ll find what you like.
  4. Some rubber is just bad, flip it over. cut it a millimeter or two shorter, repeat. It’s amazing how little things create big headaches.
  5. It’s you not the equipment that is messing up-meaning, it only does what you do with it and performs with what you provide it. cheack the rubber, the angle, the solution ratio (soaps:water, slip to wet, etc.) You are responsibile for the equipment functioning correctly. Find problems before they are become headaches and cost your time and more money.
Good luck and watch more videos and read more post. 2.5 years in and I’m watching the same videos over for little clues I missed the first several times. @TheWindowCleanse @Luke and Steve-O have made life so easy for new cleaners.

Thanks for the response. Your absolutely right, it’s definitely me doing something wrong I’m sure. And maybe I worded that wrong because I really didn’t know how else to say it. “Dry spot” may have not been entirely correct. It’s only with the Sorbo that I’m having this issue. The Ettore and Moerman both glide without any issues. That’s why I said the Sorbo seems to be sticking to the glass better. I’m new, so I’m definitely not the fastest fanning for sure so maybe I’m just going to slow. I’m still just practicing on my personal windows for now. Don’t feel right charging for something that I’m not entirely comfortable with yet.

I actually went back and looked and I do think the Moerman rubber is my problem. It’s not completely straight and seems to have a little ripple in the area that’s giving me trouble. I’ll try to flip it over and see if that helps. Maybe I need to try the mod with the Moerman handle and give it a try.

Anyway, thanks for the tips!
