Getting Back to a New Normal

Good point on usage of the salary as a metric for compensation. The S Corp that I own pays me as a salaried employee but there will also be dividends to the shareholder (me).
I need to start doing more research but dealing with insurance agencies is such a maddening process.

Glad that you are in the game. Stay focused. 2014 I spent most of the year in the hospital and came as close to dying without stepping into the light as you can. A month after release I was back in for aortic valve replacement. My business all but died then. Now I am building it up to where it was again, and my most loyal customers waited for me! Stay positive and cherish what you have.

Local buddy has Aflac (which won’t cover you if you get hurt at work) but he has been out of work due to injuries often. He has some dangerous hobbies.

Last one he broke his ankle bad and within days had a check. Check’s kept coming till he was back to work.

My “insurance” is trying to build my business into an income producing asset. That’s my backup plan.

Might be my state, but had a guy get hurt at work. Long term disability did not kick in till 6 months or 9 months. Was a few years ago. Might have been a full year. Point, cover your ass

@DaveYogi I have thought about disability insurance, but every year as I continue to phase out of doing field work, I am limiting the liability of a job site accident for myself. I think to add me to work comp is $3500 a year

I was cleared to drive last Wednesday. Haven’t had any set backs and all my scans and tests are great. Just need to take care of myself better going forward.
