recently been using Skytec OHIO and IDAHO gloves , very good for ladderwork. what the US connection in the name is i dont know ,all i do know for sure is that my crew love em !
So have you made a choice yet?
Nahā¦Iām testing some different gloves now.
Hopefully if can find a pair that will work for me before next winter.
I feel like its the story of the three bears,
One pair to big and bulkyā¦to hot
Ones pair to thin and not windproofā¦to cold
Im looking for the one that are just rightā¦
When I find the( right pair) I will let everyone know what worked great for me.
Hi Steve and guys,
I work in NH. It was down to one degree the other day. I now have a touch of joint pain. And absolutely cannot let my hands get cold. At all! So I use mittens. The fluff liner can be removed, inverted, and dried completely on my dash between jobs. The rubber shell can also be inverted and dried on the dash between jobs. Then I put those hot packs in. I can work at subzero. As for detailing all I can say is technique and squeegee points. Dog ear in the metal channel on both ends, keep the rubber cut close, and use the right technique. When I am done you canāt tell a squeegee was used.
Thanks for the information about the mittens Henry.
I also cant have my hands get cold or i do pay the cost later in the day.
In regards to technique I do not need to detail to often but when i do mittens just seem to be to bulky for me.
I have been testing different gloves over the last three winters soon I will be getting some from wcr and test those also.
I have a pair of seal skins and found them to run a little big. Iām pretty hard on my gear and have recently put a hole in them between thumb and for finger. So I purchased a pair of nrs rouge gloves from WCR store have been wearing them this winter and they are fabulous! They run the actual size and are the thinnest neoprene glove Iāve ever worn but also the warmest.

As gloves go, I do believe that WCR has the absolute best. They have excellent products. And from my experience with them, are always looking for more.
I just returned from two weeks in Seattle, temps in the low 20s, windy.
I use (GOOD QUALITY) latex surgical gloves, under a pair of cheap dipped gloves that stretch (home depot gorilla grip. $7 I think) when it gets real cold I add wool fingerless over the top of those with a handwarmer under the wool on the back of my hand.
works well for me, cheap, water/wind proof, easy to change out with wear, adjust glove size to fit your own hands.

Hmm you must have a good technique?

Have you tried glazier gloves?
Jimmy i have also tried good quality latex gloves under rubber dip gloves that stretch with a layer of wool gloves in the middle works ok
not just right if you know what I mean. Im lookin for the slick, warm, waterproof, windproof, mobility gloves, if you know what I mean.
Thanks for the input.
Maybe Im lookin for something that just not available.
Im ordering some gloves form wcr soon to try out we will see how good they work.
A friend of mine, whom I get some sub work off of, showed me what he uses and theyāre just ice fishing mittens.
Theyāre warm, waterproof, and can slip on and off relatively easy when you have to detail something. Heās been at this 40+ years so I turn to him for almost all of my questions when it comes to WC and storefront work.

Not yet what do you suggestā¦to fit my needs.
Im thinking you mean wool on the outside. thatās what I meant.
If you do find a great glove that keeps your hands warm and still allows you to pick up a quarter off the ground let me know, I want a pair myself.
I do change out my layered technique as needed, a single pinhole can change ācomfortableā to āsuckā instantly.

It my sound a little child like ā¦
but its sound great in theory but Im not taking my hand out of my gloves at 4:30am in the morning when its 20 degrees and the wind blowing 10-15 mhp from the north to detail and edge that I opps on.LOL
LOL If or when I do I will let everyone know⦠Iām on the hunt.

Its hard to say with the conditions you work in. I have worked in single digit weather, but not as much as you. I thnk there isnāt a glove that could keep your hands 100% warm an dry in those conditions. I have been using glacier gloves for years there not bulky an keep my hands dry an depending on conditions warm. The only problem with them is that they rip, but there is a glue you can get that seals them right up. My friend puts it right on the seams between the thumb an fore finger as soon as he gets a new pair. I wait till they start getting used a bit the glue is key to making them last doesnāt look nice, but who cares how they look.
PS. This sight is also great for cold weather gear.

Thanks for gloves idea but as Jimmy said one pin whole in the gloves turns ācomfortableā to āsucksā instantlyā¦
And my glove get a true work out Daily. No time or patience to glue at 5amā¦LOL
I loved my glacier gloves for the week or so they lasted. But it also gets cold here and they shredded from use.

I Agree. Keep us informed wcr has some new gloves I never seen before would like to try a pair but have two new pairs of glacier gloves still.
I got a pair of SealSkinz a few years back and they must have been the piano hands version. The fingers were like an inch too long, but the hand area was fine.
