Green smoothies

…who does them? how do you make them? what ingredients, etc?

i have this ballin’ blender and my wife makes them for me sometimes. i sort of like them. but i wouldn’t mind trying some new stuff if anybody has any ideas

1 Mango, handfull of kale, 1 scoop Garden of Life Chocolate Raw Protein Powder, almond milk, and ice.

That specific protein powder and almond milk work well with many combinations of fruits and vegetables, but the mango/kale is my favorite. Real milk and other protein powders do not seem to mix or taste as well. Enjoy!

1 whole banana, 2 scoops plain Greek yogurt,
A handful of quick cook oats, 1/2 cup frozen berries, splash of milk (almond, soy, or straight cow).

… Green Drink… Pineapple juice, spinach, parsley, kale, carrot tops, beet greens, arugula, spirulina. I use various combinations of these greens.
Popcorn with garlic butter (heavy on the garlic) goes well as a side.

Handful of kale & spinach 1 banana, apple, half can-elope seeds and all because most nutrition is in the seeds or whatever fruit that’s available in the season fruit juice and a little ice in my Vita-mix blender best smoothie maker ever.

I’ve tried kale on a number of occasions and have come to the conclusion that it was never intended to be eaten, like grass and dirt. Stop the madness!

Used to do kale, etc. Now I buy a mix called “Vega One” then add a handful of frozen berries and almond or coconut milk. Takes the hassle out of buying all the different veggies and I’m more faithful with it vs making it from raw veggies.

I have an autoimmune condition called celiac disease that literally destroys my stomach lining and cilia if I eat wheat/rye/barley and hinders how I absorb nutrients. The Vega One product is pretty good for me I think it’s really a good supplement.

Just remember just because you make a green smoothie in the a.m before work - it doesn’t offset eating garbage the rest of the day lol!

i usually do some variation of spinach and kale, a banana, an apple, an orange or berries if i have them, a tablespoon of coconut oil, flax seed, kelp powder, spirulina, a teaspoon of acai powder and some ice. mixes up real green and pretty thick, but tastes like fruit. it’s really good and filling. about 20oz. of that will get me through till lunch no problem.

Reading about all these different mixes made me think of this:

//youtu.be/ZFYq-FzVdu0

Protein powder, cocoa, coffee, psyllium husk, olive oil, honey, cream, lemon juice, yogurt, spinach, kale, blueberries.

Blended for 90 seconds in my 3hp blender.

More brown than green but very tasty!

wow, i’m surprised at all the people who are responding. looks like we have a bunch of healthy hardbodies here at wcr.

Exclude me. I said I tried kale. That’s it. I would be more prone to blend some double cheese burgers

ok tim, did you try kale on its own, or in a smoothie? i’m telling you- mix it with a banana and another piece of fruit and you literally can’t taste it. i would never touch that crap on it’s own myself, so i’m with you on that.

on its own. I dont trust you. It was horrible and I’m not consuming it again

Kale. Great for you, but tastes nasty! Make sure you wash all the bugs off.

The trick to getting the great nutritional value of Kale in your smoothie is not to much kale.

Anybody else using a NutriBullet? Not as good as a Vita Mix but way less money. About $90 at Bed Bath and Beyond. Best $90 I ever spent. We do smoothies every morning for breakfast.

never saw it, but this is the one i bought

Waring Pro MX1000R Professional 3.5-Horsepower Blender, Black : Amazon.com : Kitchen & Dining

less than half the cost of the vitamix and that other hoity toity brand, but all the balls. it weighs about 20lbs. just about flies off the counter when you start it up. i think it could run a small prop plane.
