If you plan it out right you wouldnt have to worry about breaking even - business is about profit. Best way to get there is strategize and brainstorm during the slow times to be better prepared for next year so you can turn a profit and enjoy work instead of hoping to break even.

I know Chris mentioned he did a gutter cleaning groupon and it did well. I wonder how many jobs he did and what his retention rate was the following year. If it was worth the price cut to do those jobs or not.

I know business is about profit but for the few months its slow in San Antonio I’m more concerned about keeping my guys working. We make a killing the rest of the year, so it makes up for it. I hear what you’re saying though. I’m just talking about the big deal which is a small component of our overall plan.

I hear ya. We aren’t busy all winter so we’re all laid off around Christmas. I prolong the season by planning accordingly leading up to the slow time. That’s all I was really trying to say.

Update on this… We sold 37 coupons. Booked a couple window jobs out of it and have had 3 sign up for 2x/year at full price. We’ve completed 23 out of 37 so far. 10 new gutter cleaning reviews on Angie’s list.
