I’ve been roaming around this forum for the past three months. I bought equipment about two month ago and had cold feet, kept on stalling and just practiced cleaning at home. Tonight I finally went out and approached storefronts. It wasn’t as bad as I thought it would be and most of the people I talked to were nice, they were mainly managers and they said they’d pass my flyers on to the owner. It’s great experience building, and even though I didn’t close any accounts, I felt like I’m taking a step in right direction. Hello and thanks everyone here for the wealth of knowledge!
I do have one question. When is the best time for passing out flyers in your experience? I went out around 7 pm and got back just now, most of the stores were closing and owners weren’t in.
Resturaunts are typically busy from 11-1 and 4-8. My Bro in law has got some by offering to clean the windows right at that moment. Especially effective when the windows are dirty.
Early afternoon and/or late mornings are my favorite times for canvassing. Going right at lunch time is a mixed bag (if the place doesn’t serve lunch). The place might be less busy during lunch hours, but there is a marked probability the boss will be out getting a bite.
Really? I know you keep a close eye on numbers, but is that proven to be the best time to solicit storefronts? If so, do you sell a whole bunch and schedule them? Or do you clean right then?
i haven’t done much soliciting in a while, i just always had a sense that it’s the most productive time. my thought is that it’s close enough to the weekend that people are in a better mood but not so close that they have left business mode. if i we’re trying to get a lot of work i would sell jobs on thursday and schedule them for monday if possible.
