Had cold feet but finally went out tonight!

Hello everyone!

I’ve been roaming around this forum for the past three months. I bought equipment about two month ago and had cold feet, kept on stalling and just practiced cleaning at home. Tonight I finally went out and approached storefronts. It wasn’t as bad as I thought it would be and most of the people I talked to were nice, they were mainly managers and they said they’d pass my flyers on to the owner. It’s great experience building, and even though I didn’t close any accounts, I felt like I’m taking a step in right direction. Hello and thanks everyone here for the wealth of knowledge!

I do have one question. When is the best time for passing out flyers in your experience? I went out around 7 pm and got back just now, most of the stores were closing and owners weren’t in.

In my experience mornings are better for everything other than breakfast places and coffee shops.

Hit them when theyre not busy and before they’re tired.

Resturaunts are typically busy from 11-1 and 4-8. My Bro in law has got some by offering to clean the windows right at that moment. Especially effective when the windows are dirty.

Yes, I should try mornings, some of the stores I went too were a little busy.

Early afternoon and/or late mornings are my favorite times for canvassing. Going right at lunch time is a mixed bag (if the place doesn’t serve lunch). The place might be less busy during lunch hours, but there is a marked probability the boss will be out getting a bite.

It felt easier after the first one for me, go out and market yourself, good luck!

Really? I know you keep a close eye on numbers, but is that proven to be the best time to solicit storefronts? If so, do you sell a whole bunch and schedule them? Or do you clean right then?

Awesome! Keep it rolling! Curious about flyers vs cards now.

i haven’t done much soliciting in a while, i just always had a sense that it’s the most productive time. my thought is that it’s close enough to the weekend that people are in a better mood but not so close that they have left business mode. if i we’re trying to get a lot of work i would sell jobs on thursday and schedule them for monday if possible.

What I mean is don’t go at those times. If you go when they are busy you will piss them off.
