Harbor Freight Trailer build up

Building my Harbor Freight trailer for my pressure washer. Added two beams to strap the tank down to and bolt the pump and engine to. Have to order some reels. Any idea on what I should do would be cool.

Is that going to be strong enough to support the weight? What size tank do you have?

You could probably replace the axle, springs, and wheels… but it may be cheaper to find a beefier trailer…

Have a 150 gallon buffer tank. Filled with everything else will be close to max capacity. But ill never drive around with it maxed out. Maybe half a tank at most.

Careful, a half full tank is sometimes more dangerous then a full tank due to slosh. You won’t believe what kind of power that water has moving around back there.

I think I would add a floor, especially on either side of the steel beams. This would allow for you to carry some 5 gallon containers and such. You could weld some cool brackets to hold them in place.

How well do baffled tanks perform?

Yeah. Might just wait till I get to the job before I fill her up. Will be putting a floor on the sides. Just going to wait till I have everything mounted up. Thinking about adding something for a DI tank but need to order one first.

Justin…Howdy

Say I’m at Harbor Freight all the time,it’s a great little store !

Justin who’s doing the welding ? Is that you ? Looking really…well let me just say…

In the picture it’s my buddy Alex. He was helping me out.

Baffled tanks r very expensive but do work great. What you can do yourself to baffle your tank is buy PVC drainage pipe and cut it to the proper height of your tank. Wedge it into the tank horizontal in as many places as you can. There is also a company in KY that makes baffle balls in 3" diameter.

What reels do you guys recommend? Pressuretek has some cheap one’s: Holds 250’ Of 3/8" Hose Lightweight, compact hose reel. Direct hand crank rewind design. Up to 4,000 PSI working pressure. Reel handles temperatures from -20 degrees F to 225 degrees F. Easily wraps, stores and protects hose improving workplace safet
Where do you guy’s recommend me mount these. On the back of the trailer or on the side or sides? Thinking about adding a mount for my 1 cubic foot DI tank too. Any ideas on how I should mount it? Looked into getting the whole thing powdercoated put got a quote for $430. Little steep. Thinking of herculinering it.

What’s the payload rating of the trailer with supplied axle?

Box says 1700 lbs.

What are you guys using to strap the tanks down?

Got to work on the trailer some yesterday and today. Added some extra metal so I can bolt the reels down.

Scuffed all the powdercoat first. Sprayed the bare metal with some self etching primer. Then sprayed it with herculiner. Using a harbor freight texture gun. That was a learning experience. Make sure you are in a wide open area and wear a full body suit. The stuff is really sticky and goes everywhere. Have it all over me hands even after I wore gloves. Got it on me when I hooked the trailer up to the truck. Here’s some pictures of the it. Hopefully I’ll be mounting everything tomorrow.

Got her done enough to use. Will finish all the small stuff later this week. Man I’m wore out. Doesn’t look like much but had to run back and forth to Home depot a couple times and to the house. Need to tuck the wiring. Also need a jumper high pressure hose from the unit to the reel. Install the trailer jack. etc. Well going to fire her up in a little bit to see if she runs.

sick. Looking sharp.

Michael

on a side note… how big is your storage unit?

Thanks. 10x20 with power. Paying about 125 a month. The trailer fits in it plus 28ft and 24ft ladders, selves, etc.

Update. Tucked the wires. Trailor is doing awesome.
