Hardwater on Graffiti Film?

I have a restaurant with bushes right in front of it. There is a sprinkler system that hits them as well as the graffiti film covered glass. On the bottom of the windows there seems to be mineral deposit build up. Can this be treated without harming the graffiti film?

I asked the stain water removal master Craig

Here is what he said:

Hey Chris…personally it all depends on how old the grafitti film is? If it’s 5 years or less the stuff is usually pretty tuff. However…i would avoid the pasty type of removers as it could dull the film(of course if it’s hammered with hard water deposits any improvement will help) We’ve experimented with solvents etc pretty hard core stuff nothing affected it. Stay clear of using steel wool i’d test with a chemical & sponge and or white pad and use that method to remove.

Maybe try safe-restore and or CC-550 see if it lifts those stains you mentioned. After all any hard water spots are in relief on the glass so…seeing it’s on film shouldn’t matter much.

hi there just my 2 cents worth ask the restaurant owner if they could move the sprinkler system either side of the window and bushes so that the water isn’t been splashed all over the place especially the window even with the graffiti flim on it should leave water stains on the film thats what it is there for to protect the glass. hope that helps : SQUEEGEE

Chris: Thanks a lot! I will give it a go. I wanted to try something chemically, but didn’t want to damage the film. I will try an inconspicuous area. Thanks for the research. And thanks Craig!

Richard: Thanks, I agree something should be done about the sprinklers. Even if I get it off it will come back if something doesnt change.

I’d be tempted to try the simple green anti-cal. Never used it on film though.
