Hello from the UK

A quick intro.

I live in the UK at the moment and am immigrating to the USA next year … all signed and sealed  … I used to clean windows when I was at university some years back. I also cleaned every piece of doo doo that my Sgt Major ever decided to point me at in the military.

I remember wandering around the $million homes in La Jolla, CA., and thinking “**ck me they could do with a window cleaner over here”. So I decided that if I ever came over to live I would pick up the squeegee and get to it. So, at the moment I am reading around the forum and getting a feel for how you chaps do business in the US. Which seems a tad different to the UK in approach/acceptance and frequency of cleaning.

So, hello and pleased to meet you.

Alex

Welcome Alex!

Hey Alex! Welcome aboard!

Welcome Alex.

Thanks for the welcome chaps.

Welcome Alex! I played hooky one day at the IWCA San Diego convention and the Wife and I spent the day in La Jolla, Ca. A beautiful place, we never wanted to leave. I thought the same thing with moving there and doing windows its all I could look at when I wasnt looking west across the ocean. San Diego I think has more window cleaners per capita than politicians in DC…lol. Half of them are on the forum here too!!! Im sure you will get all sorts of advice here!

Thanks Tim. I do not plan on moving to Calif. though: The Terminators taxes are tooooo high; future intermittent power failures; not very much naturally occuring water; and, the possibility of the whole State getting all shook up and floating off into the Pacific.

Nah. I’d rather face the hurricanes, winds and rain of a Florida summer*. Its a growing State and the development plans are quite impressive if people take the time to look them over. Understandably its all come to a stop at the moment, but like the man Warren Buffett say’s It can only go on hold for so long. The ongoing demand is there and in five years time people will still need the houses that they need and businesses will still need to grow to fill demand.

Step in for growth over the long term and not the quick buck, build confidence, build a brand and build success.

AUHHH, I sound like a politician … where are my pills.:stuck_out_tongue:

  • The lady wife wants to live in Florida, I would prefer around Boston. I saw a couple of what can loosely be described window cleaners in the centre of Boston a couple of years ago and watched what can best be described as a laurel and Hardy show for about half an hour. I honestly think the windows were dirtier when they finished cleaning them.
