Hi i was a laid off oil field worker who moved to the detroit area to stay with some family i got a job with a large window washing company and caught on really fast moved to the top of the chain pretty quick with my experience with heavy equipment the owner kept putting me on his huge window jobs and promising me more money but it never came after doing a 22 thousand dollar job pretty much by myself on a boom lift and a water fed pole for a week i took home a 458 dollar check so i quit and invested everything i have into my own company i have top of the line equipment paid advertisement i have done cold calls and very little door to door i have landed a 40000$ dollar quarterly gutter cleaning contract that will keep me busy 3 months out of the year its alot of condos. but other then that my phone dont ring every company in the area is super busy besides me i get no calls i dont know what i am doing wrong ive considered going door to door but i figured that would just piss people off. its only a matter of time tell i sink i cant keep only working 1 day a week. I have even considered applying for work with other company’s tell things pick up but i know no other company wants to hire a competitor. any tips will help.
I know this won’t help you but I am also struggling. How were you able to land that contract? What do you say to people or who do you talk to? You should very proud landing that gig!
Are you focusing on commercial primarily? sounds like it, most commercial work comes from cleaning/janitorial companies or building managers from networking not through advertising.
How long have you been doing windows?
Was that $40,000 or $4,000???
Cuz if it’s $40,000 that’s a hella of a good account.
Try social media.
Craigslist, yelp, Facebook, thumbtack, etc.
Maybe you could try storefronts? Many guys seem to have success with it as a way of quickly building a steady income. Here’s a really good thread to get you started:

To get residential, door-to-door is a tried and true method. I was worried people might be annoyed but most people were exceptionally friendly and thanked me for stopping by. Just keep your pitch brief, look professional, and be sure to smile. You could also try having some nice door hangers made. I used vistaprint and they turned out really nice and weren’t expensive. Just hanging rather than knocking will help you cover more ground more quickly. I’m still getting calls from ones I’ve hung two months ago.
Either way, don’t be discouraged. Make finding work your work. Keep at it and it will pay off!

Dude, I’m over here happy cuz I landed a $3500 dollar job…and you’re over there landing a 40k and stressing haha…
Yeah i have done craigslist and alot of other places online. From all of what i am reading online it seems like i need to do alot more door to door.

i wont be stressing when i am doing it i am just a month out from starting it. And its starting to get thin with the finances haha. The only reason i am stressing is i am in a big market and every single company here is posting wanted adds for employees saying how busy the are. I know one guy i talk to he is running 6 2 man crews 5 days a week and im sitting here with maybe one or two calls a week?

Because like i said its a Quarterly contract meaning every 3 months ill do about 3 weeks worth of work for this contract there for leaving a lot of time in between. That i could be doing other jobs

They are busy, that’s good for you. That means the market there is good. That means there are jobs being left on the plate, and money, for you to take. Try subing work for them if you’re that desperate.
Would suck if no one was busy.
No no that is not it at all it just i have invested everything i have into equipment and have not started the contract yet. Im still a month out on it so i am still a month away from making a dime on the contract and no calls coming in.
