Iāve been trying to remedy this issue for a while. I believe itās what others have mentioned about the final turn. There is less room for your last turn which makes it tricky. I find I have to do a wider turn so that when I start to pull the squeegee down, it is nearly vertical on the last pull. If I feel like I left a line, Iāll bring the squeegee down a little ways to lubricate it then back up to try again.

If your motion is quick and smooth you eliminate most if not all of these problems.

I asked this question many years ago when I was being trained. The answer I got wasā¦ " anything from 1 minute to a month"

What @anon35812390 said, honestly lol. But maybe once a week on average? Tbh i donāt really pay attention. Just whenever i need to i do it.
Replacing it sooner than later pays way better than dicking around with a worn one.

I finally got it!
I recently discovered the secret to not leaving a mark at the top of the last stroke when vertically fanning, ironically, while doing regular fanning. I had noticed that while the dreaded triangle smear that sometimes happens on the final stroke can indeed be caused by turning to sharply, itās actually more likely caused by the channel slightly tapping the frame and shedding water. Once i became more attentive to that detail my close-outs improved greatly. Today, I got the idea to watch out for that in the last pass of a vertical fanā¦and it worked! Apparently, I was always hitting the frame when i turned the squeegee for the downstroke. Made sure not to do that and didnāt leave any water today.
Now, it remains to be seen if it will continue to work, so hopefully it wasnāt too soon to report my results. But previously i had only gotten the vertical fan to work flawlessly twice ever in two seasons. Today, it worked window after window with ease, so i have a good feeling about this.
Yet another point to add to the collection of subtle details you just donāt pick up as a newb watching YouTube.

Triangles at the bottom is the reason many window cleaners fan 90% of the window then straight pull the bottom coz no matter how hard they try they cant get rid of the triangles, the reason the triangle formed is that the squeegee, the turn was not fluid and its likely you are hitting the corner causing a bounce as you turn leaving a triangle looking mark.
