Helpful Advice

Here you go, I’m not new been reading a lot of stuff on here but thought I would throw into the mix my own tips…

I have looked at a lot of different window cleaning websites around the web and I’m actually amazed to find hardly any of you list testimonials and those that do might list a handful at most. There is nothing better than showing future clients past customers (a lot of whom they might already know) and they themselves being able to read a vast array of testimonials, proof alone how of good a professional window cleaner you are and what makes you different.

I personally have approximately 70 testimonials and aim to have 300 on my website and I know a few of you will say well most people will not read them all and true… but how impressed are you going to be to see a window cleaner with not just 2 or 3 but 20, 40, 70, 150 and know myself I will never use anyone for any kind of service unless they have proven testimonials and im not talking about just 1 or 2 either.

I am having a swimming pool put in this summer (no recession here) but won’t entertain those who give me estimates who do not have testimonials but will gladly pay more for those that can show me a book full of pass clients - just something to think about and as additional proof, there are quite a few window cleaners here but I get a ton of high price business because of my website and testimonials and have been told this from people over and over, so just something to mill over you guys.

Also, have any of you heard of FREE gas, go to claimyourgas.com these are gas certificates which you can use to promote your services and come in $100, $250 and $500 certificates - only businesses can purchase them and use them but are great for giving away as incentives to use your servivce. I don’t use them for my window cleaning (don’t need too) but I also own 2 additional businesses Johnson County Publications and 21st Century Gutter Protection and use them for those, these really work! I actually use one of them for my window cleaning trucks and claim back $25 per month on my gas.

You must spend $100 a month on gas, send in your receipts each month and every 6 weeks or so you will receive $25 back on your gas up to the value of the gas certificate you buy and use. To buy they are approximately $14 each depending on where you live and what sales rep you get to chat too and how many of them you buy. I would highly suggest them though.

I would also like to mention when doing a job or having one of your guys do a job always leave the customer with a survey to mail back to you on how you did (send me your email and I will email you ours) this is very useful for improving your service and when I do this I send them a $10 coupon off their next window cleaning but also for each testimonial I send them a $25 gift card, which is peanuts given I charge $64 an hour.

This leads onto the next suggestion, those of you coming into this game when you have been doing this a little while and are doing estimates, decide on your hourly rate, obviously lower to begin with but when working out an estimate charge by the hour - this is what I do and Im never wrong - I will spend approximately 5-10 minutes looking a place over, type of windows, ladder work, height, etc etc and x by the number of hours it will take to do so much easier than counting panes, x amount for this, x amount for that. Saves a lot of time. I have been doing this for 4 years now and in the past year have only been out one time by an hour.

Well, thats all folks, just wanted to pop some ideas on here.

Awesome tips!

I like your gutter whitening section on your website…

Looks familiar to me…

Good tips. Maybe we should all move to Olathe, KS since it appears to be impervious to the the economy. That is, of course, unless I have to become a Jayhawk (i.e., "Thunderchicken) fan.

Hey… what can I say with regards to my businesses never heard of the word ‘recession’ but also perhaps thats also the way I run my business and the fact im British, something which sells in this country
