Hi from Nebraska

Hi, my name is Kevin Thomas. I have been in the field of cleaning and janitorial work for 10 years in the Lincoln, NE and southeast Nebraska area. During this time I have done work as an independent contractor and an hourly employee. In the last two years I have added window cleaning to my list of skills.

I have recently started forming my own business (Janitorial/custodial and window cleaning are my main features) and am seeking out all opportunities for resources and job leads. At this point I finally feel confident in striking out on my own to sink or swim in the market.

I would love to learn new techniques, however my main focus of interest is in marketing and making sure I don’t look like an idiot in my first few job bids. I have done all kinds of “clean-up” including factory paint lines and hazardous wastes, but I have never been faced with seeking out work in the private market. I have learned a lot about it in the last 2 years as I have been doing sub-contract commercial construction clean up and have been forced to learn about window cleaning… then I said “I’ve been in the wrong business all this time!”

If you have been in the janitorial business for this long, you probably have a ton of leads already! Use them! Be persistent to the point of being a pest, never throw away the number of customer or potential customer, and call property managers, real estate agents, major businesses, anybody who could conceivably be a client. Good luck and good hunting!

Welcome! You will find many ideas here. You came to the right place.
