How hot is to hot to work

Hi at what temp do you stop working we are having 5 days of temp between 105f to 113f iv been working on store fronts but even in the shade the water is drying to fast. Whats the hottest temp you have worked in. Im in Melbourne australia

Well i think the hottest temp i had to work in was around the 43-44C this was in Adelaide a few weeks before Christmas we had to use a swing stage to clean a 6 story all black glass building. The worst thing about it was having to move the davit arms and cables on the roof everything was red hot to the touch, but cleaning the glass was not any better if u were not able to clean using both hands it would dry within seconds.
Biggest problem with this job it absolutely had to be completed as they had guys booked in to set up Christmas lights as soon as we were done and they needed 4 days to get their job done so we could not just say it was too hot and go home, especially when it was a another 4-5 day heat wave.

Once it gets over 100 we’ll take some extra precautions, but I have never said it’s too hot to work at all. We’ve worked in 108 degree heat

I did 10 hours/day in 104Âș summer before last.

 • puts a smile on my face just thinking about it!

Man if I did that I would have a mid winter AND a mid summer break!
Lol, like diamondridge once it gets hot I take more precautions, drink more agua, take more shade breaks, and I wear a floppy safari hat

I jumped into window cleaning right as summer was kicking off here in TX, shoot when things cooled down I had to re-learn how to clean a window because the water wouldn’t completely evaporate in 8.5 seconds - now I can take a complete coffee break between panes :stuck_out_tongue:

I found a little extra soap, moving super fast and a sopping wet mop to help on super hot panes,

You’ve apparently never seen the NJ humidity lol
95 usually means 100-115 with the heat index.

My highest I can recall was 106F. What misery! My head was dripping sweat onto the skylights.
I’ll take cold ANY day over heat.

Haha. Apparently you’ve never seen the TX or OK humidity. You just get our leftovers. I’d love a day where 95° meant only 115 heat index. You’re just thin skinned, but hard headed.

You get 100% humidity?

Yeah, humidity is a bitch here, too.

Michigan is a peninsula, so there’s water in every direction.
Great for boating. Working, no so much. :frowning:

Pretty close.
I guarantee you Texas in worse than Jersey. There is about 50 cities in Texas in top 101 highest humidity areas of America. Of course, New Jersey and Oklahoma don’t even make the list.

You like it like that . Well I’m sure cause it’s winter you do . Anything above 90 not for me . Of course I work in it, but it just slows ya down .
I would take 30s over 90 anyday. Only thing that sucks is more work when it’s hot. Double edge sword for me, I hate the heat . I hate the cold too but cold to me is below 25 degrees . Perfect working weather 50-70

I grew up and worked in upstate NY & Jamaica/Queens, gonna nickname you drippy lol. The problem is when it gets stagnant.

Dallas’s humidity actually isn’t due to any climate / regional cause. It’s due to all the fat people who live here sweating, kind of like being stuck in a hot gym.

Define “like.” lol
I guess I’d ‘prefer’ heat over cold.
(and I’m really good a reminding myself when I’m in the heat- “remember those cold days in February”)

Being hot sucks, but it’s not painful.
Cold hurts.
I stubbed my toe the other day and thought I was going to cry. :o

I know 2011 and 2012, Oklahoma was the hottest state in the nation. I think in 2011, we had 40+ straight days of temps over 100°. 2012 we hit 115. Nasty state. This summer was pretty nice compared to the previous.
Work everyday in it. Wish I didn’t have to. Every summer I threaten to leave this hell hole.

This was a terrible summer (and spring) here.
I swear to god on my life, my heat actually kicked on one day in JUNE!

I couldn’t believe it.

2012 there was a LaNiña and it made for a warm year, overall.

Same as the Dallas area, insane humidity and high temps, I’m loving the weather in SoCal.

105, just try and follow the shade as much as you can
