From my very brief experience with shops inside the malls (not the malls themselves), if you charge under a certain amount, say like $40, the store can handle it with just petty cash. Above that amount, which can vary store to store, the manager will ask you to invoice corporate. I haven’t had anyone stop me or lay out a bunch of rules like the others were saying about cleaning before a certain time or signing in… but then again I only have one monthly account in my mall right now :rolleyes:
The only way to make it really profitable is to have a good number of stores you can do in a day and do them very quickly. For tips on actually landing these types of jobs use the search and you’ll find that [MENTION=12729]JaredAI[/MENTION] fellow has more than a few good ideas on that.
I make the girls working in the stores move the mannequins, and I just slay their windows, Ka boom then get a free slushy

Yup phone call the day before . Coming to do the insides Tommorrow please have the windows accessible.
If you don’t act like it’s not your job to move them, then it will become your job to move them.
If they forget I just say no problem we will call you next service.
I do one store in the mall also. Through "Avid floor maintenance " very good NSP . The only NSP I work for. Pay on time all the time, an they pay fair.
The malls here don’t have those sign in rules either, but most stores in the mall are NSP. I’m sure there are a handful that aren’t those you can get to pay out of petty cash.

I’ve done Mall work and it wasnt bad at all. I made money and the ppl were pleasant to deal with.
A lot will be corporate so you need to get phone numbers. Sometimes you’ll find an independently owned store.
Often the stores use a national janitorial company that will subcontract the window cleaning. So you’ll actually have to contact them instead of corporate.
It’s nice in the winter, even if you get one or two stores.
I make money from a few stores in our mall that are not nsp’s. I offer them a maintenance program, either i do outside every 4 weeks and touch up the fingerprints on the inside ( gets me about 30.00 for 10 min work) or i’ll give them a bi weekly deal where i maintain the outside the first time( generally a couple of prints) and clean in and out the second time ( get about 45.00 for 15 min work)
With both these ways of pricing, the customer feels like they’re getting alot for their money
I do a store here for avid, and they are pretty good. It’s a store with 2 panes of glass, i gave them my minimum price and they accepted what I charge. It literally takes me less than 2 minutes. No exaggeration. But they haven’t tried to haggle me, and they do pay in a reasonable time.
Majestic, do you get like 10 emails a month from Avid? That’s the only thing I don’t like. Annoying. I can tell they think window cleaners are dumb (maybe we are!).

And I’d add, I just need the managers signature, and the mall is 5 minutes from my house. So it makes the perfect end of day stop.
They emailed me from my website. I wouldn’t mind having more accounts there, but I’ve also never made an effort to get any.

Yes I do get a lot of reminder emails from them I understand it though when they have to get a ton of work orders from all these different companies it is a good way for them to keep things on time. Annoying yes ,Im not sure if they think we are dumb its more of a security blanket to keep things on time .
My store I do had a construction make over so it was closed for a while . I must of got 10 emails about doing the clean up for them, and 3 phone calls . There on top of there game over there . They micro manage that’s for sure.
I do the one store for them in the mall, and I have a few attached to the mall, but with outside entrance’s , I do a bunch of stuff in the town the mall is in so it works out good .
