I still advertise in a few. Nothing too crazy. I don’t get a ton of calls, but turn a profit.
The way I see it, we as contractors are in the driver’s seat as the directories are really hurting for support. I’m constantly getting calls and emails for their web support offerings. They know that’s where the future is.

Hey, you never know who picks up the book. I was thinking about that today when I was scrubbing panera windows. I always hold the doors for the ladies of course but some guys too just to be nice. The point is you never know who your holding the door for. Same for the book… You never know. It could be some property manager of a large commercial job that you just can’t do without. I’ve landed a few like that so I KNOW…

“Phone book ad”
My rule is that as long as my ad is paying for itself, I will continue to have it.
Another point I will add is that if you want a phone guide ad to do anything for you, it has to be a nice ad.

In 10-15 years the phone book may be totally obsolete… But there is still a generation of older folks (retired with disposable income) who do still use the phone book.
