So I was at an inside covered mall today and I am thinking about prospecting there. The guy who does most of the stores uses a dry rag (wrapped around a squeegee)on the insides and never uses a wet mop on them. I hear very occasionally he may use some kind of spray. I think most people are not to fond of him. Anyone ever use this dry procedure and can chime in on it? No, of course it’s not my first choice of options on how to do them, but I was thinking about giving them the option.
I’d sell them on professional window cleaning. Maybe offer a free cleaning to one of the shops to let the others see how it’s cone and how the windows can look.
Sounds like it makes the job much longer. I’d also be wary of smears.
There’s your answer.
Go in there, sell them on professionalism and go get some!
That’s a method that was commented on a year or two back.
The idea is that with the dry rag, you can pull the dust off, without making a mess.
After a while, though, its not enough.
Hope you can land some of these. Around here, indoor mall work is fiercely competitive, and in many cases, corporate organized. Not very profitable in 95% of cases.
Around here, anyway.
The indoor malls in most parts of the U.S. are owned by General Growth Properties from what i could gather and are for sure corporate organized. I just spent last week in some of ours in Vegas and it’s a bust.

It’s tough breaking into retail storefront WC’ing. Like Kevin said, most of the time it isn’t profitable because it’s corporately controlled and they want the lowest pricing. Usually the WC’ers that clean mall windowa around here are employed by large janitorial companies that pay $9 per hour for their slovenly dressed employees to clean.

… it wouldn’t hurt to still try. Go in to each store with your quote on the back of your business card, dress nice and be confident. You never know who you will run into, even at a retail chain that’s corporately controlled. I would push traditional professional window cleaning also.

I once just happened to run into the regional manager of chain clothing store while I was prospecting and they just happened to be looking for a window cleaner to handle 13 stores in the state. I still have them after 2 years.
