Do you clean over the decal or clean up to the decal? Any help would be great. Thanks
Clean em
@IronLionZion has spoken the truth. I’ve never found a way to get away with not detailing them afterwards. Unless you’re that one guy who just leaves them to drip. Then I come in and point it out to the owner and get the job for a higher price.
If flat decal go over and detail, or if you cant go over with squeegee then clean right up to it and use razor blade to detail it
i think you should just skip it. jk
Now we’re thinkin outside of the box
Now that’s how you get shiz done.
Thanks for all of the help.
Are you talking about large vinyl ads on the glass or little stickers for like security company, credit cards accepted, etc…
Large vinyl I clean if it’s really dirty…I won’t clean it if it’s not really dirty because some of those aren’t printed very well. And, the more I clean the more faded they look. I haven’t had anyone ask about it yet.
Little stickers…if they lay flat on the window than I squeegee over and then detail…otherwise I get weeping around the sticker when the water dries. If the edges of the decal/sticker is curled or rough I don’t squeegee over, to protect my squeegee blade. In fact, I’ve scraped off some decals/stickers because of this…no one said anything about it.
Thanks for the help.
I don’t use much cloths on decals. Depending on the type I clean over them and squeegee towards the seam on all sides and feather the bottom. If you don’t understand I’ve advanced techniques on decals
I have made an advance move for not detailing them. I rarely ever have drips
Awesome thanks for the help. DO you have a video?
I do the same thing on signage but I still gotta detail on lettering @marcuswindows
Here is a video you might get an idea
Here is another but with circular decals towards the last min of video, or something like that.
Awesome thanks for sharing.
At ground level I fan over lettering/decals and towel detail.
For pole work I find that straight pulls with a soft rubber lets me skip the towel more often than not.
Sometimes I toss a towel over a small squeegee and wrap it around kinda like when tying a tie. So it doesn’t fall off. I can buff/detail lettering on a window with a pole that way.
PS
I use large towels. Scrim
Not little huck towels
Same here. Big towels are easier to wrap like a turban in 2 seconds on my pole
