Need Bidding Suggestions!

I use a WFP just about every day on all my residential jobs, but I was requested to put in a bid for the exterior of following building’s third floor windows. I figure it’s got a total of:

36 Double Hungs @ $10 each = $360
204 Small Panes @ $3 each = $612
14 large panes @ $8 each = $112

Total of $1084

It might take me about 10 hours or so.

Being that this is my first bidding attempt on something like this, what do you think with the pricing? I know we’re not in the same area, but what would you charge?

one last picture

I’d be somewhere around $800-850 depending on any accessibility issues.

I think you are right on. You should have that place cleaned quick…

In my area, the Denver/Boulder metro area, I’d charge $900. I get a little over half of such bids, which is where you want to be…competitive, but not giving it away. Remember, at 3 stories, most of your competition can still access it from a ladder.

There shouldn’t be any accessibility issues. I think I’ll feel the guy out at our walkthru today and I’ll drop the quote off on Monday. I figure I’ll end up between $900 and $1000. I’ll let you know.

Thanks

Now that you have the dollar amounts, I figured the amount of man hours it would take to complete the job. This way you can use the dollar amount you wish to make and multiply no. of man hours. It looks to me like it would take 20 hrs.

Do you mean with traditional methods, or with WFP?

With WFP, I think go4dabukz has it about right…10 hours.

Why only the third floor? any chance of talking him into all the windows?

He is the manager of the banquet hall on the third floor. The 1st and 2nd floor are smaller businesses that are responsible for their own. I may address those after I get this one.

What do i use to wash a window with hard water? should I charge more?

So, as you WFP some of the 3rd floor windows, the runoff will possibly dirty the windows below on 2nd and first floor.
Would you be responsible for that?

i do a building with the same setup, Third story only but the runoff had me doing some of the second story windows for free, since they didnt want to get on the program.

Forget that! What do they do when it rains?

Wow Brennon. Thats weird they dont want the other windows done on such a high end place. I think your price is dead on. I would probably quote alittle higher if when I felt him out it looked like I could get it. But I would really try to get the whole building, have you given some marketing stuff to the others in the building (I know you got an arsenal my friend):D.

Raining is something nobody can control. Cleaning windows on the other hand is.

just another reason to ladder it it…

If I had to ladder it the price would jump. I’d use a lift to minimize water getting on the lower floors and if they didn’t want me to use the lift I’d suggest they get the 1st and 2nd floor folks on board and I could use the wfp and save the lift fee.

So, you discount for WFP use?

No I increase for 3rd floor ladder work.
