I think I posted my first post in the wrong place!
so I’ll post it again: I need all the help I can get. I got laid off from my job in Tuscaloosa, Alabama last week! I’ve always wanted to start a window cleaning business, I have done research and all for a long time, even bought some equipment a while ago . It seems as if I can make good money doing this. I am getting a FIN, Insurance and a Licence. is it really possible for a one man show to make 200 or 300 dollars a day? Any advice for a new guy starting at the ground floor? Thanks!

It is possible for a new guy to make that. Of course there are a ton of variables. Local economy, customer base, hours worked per day, etc.
The best thing you can do right now is market, market, market you and your business. Also be patient - it may not take off right away as good marketing can take some time to bring in jobs. In addition I’d recommend that you practice your technique on your home, your families homes, and your friends homes.

You will need 2 put in your time. Practice, learn your new profession, and gain experience. You will make your share of mistakes, remember the first days/weeks when you earn great $$$, and years that will force you to focus even more on who you are and what you offer. If your in for the long haul… get ready, it aint always as easy as washing a pane of glass. 30+ years and still kickin it. Don’t give up and stay focused

Not to rain on your deal but weather has a lot to do in window cleaning !!! Wind, rain and mr. Sun has a lot to do or not !! So yes you can when make them numbers . Stan

Yes, of course you can make that…and more per day. But like was already mentioned, be patient. One element that I firmly believe is key, is a saying that was told to me…“fake it till ya make it”. Just because you are new, does not mean that you have to act like it in front of customers or potential customers. You never know who that million dollar customer will be so always conduct yourself as a pro at all times. ALWAYS answer your phone durring the day, if you dont you will lose alot of business. Market the crap out of your company and call other window cleaners in your area, ask them if they have too much stuff to sub out to you…

I think 200 - 300 per day is a reasonable first goal on the days you work. Making that much every day, day in and day out is the challenge when just starting out. If you want that much in your pocket, make sure you add overhead. It might look more like 250 - 400 per day gross and 200 - 300 net depending on vehicles, distance driving, advertising, your first set of business cards, etc.

absolutely possible:D good luck!!..gutter cleaning is a really good service to add on too, great money in that…I had a $600 gutter job today along with 10 other wc jobs…2 of us 9 hrs…good day!!! only bad thing was I came home dirtier than my husband today…wet, messy, smelly gutter “yuck”…

I really boils down to who you are as a person. Are you a quitter? Do you get easily discouraged? Just because you can learn how to do windows doesnt really mean that you will be a total success. All of my guys know how to do windows and even talk with customers. I would wager that not a single one of them could run a business successfully. You have to have the DRIVE and DETERMINATION to get this thing off the ground and keep it from crashing and burning.

In the early days (storefronts) , I just about threw in the towel myself. It is very discouraging to try to run a business and make a profit with all of the lowballing that goes on. I cleaned my first residential job and I was hooked for life. This December will be my 20 year milestone.

My advice would be to check out these threads on everything that involves Marketing and tools. Sharpen your skills and become a “people person”. Give them the best personal service possible and remember you gotta hustle, hustle, hustle. Good luck!
