I do some pretty “far out” there marketing messages, but I don’t think I could pull off mixing religion and humor like that. Around here, people are fairly sensitive when it comes to religion, and all it takes is one offended person to backfire on your plan.
Keep the humor - lose the religion…
I agree. You don’t want to push the envelope too far and that headline will surely do it! Sorry but doing something that puts a spin on religion will get your phone to ring. It will be people that are upset on the other line not customers. I would scrap that idea for sure.
a couple beers later and we have a handful of headlines which i would never use on any marketing pieces… just wanted to share… thought it was funny, wrong but funny…
hmm maybe send out a tester of that one with a competitors name on it
I like this one better, and will tweak to use for sure…
I just thought of the movie Independence day. Wouldn’t it be funny to have some kind of scene on a flier or post card with a family in there house completely oblivious to what’s going on because they can’t see out there windows… saying something like, “don’t let dirty windows ruin your life”.
Dude, that would a fun postcard. Make it cartoon’ish, little space ships and green men zapping people and the entire neighborhood is in a craze, houses on fire, people running around screaming…and the family with the dirty windows is chilling in there house…
You have to be really careful with stuff and god. Your company would have to be branded all over the place to be pretty much a household name to pull off something like that. And even then it would most likely get you bad press.
This time last year when everyone was so happy about the new president but very upset with all the bailouts and feeling we all got ripped off. I had a few too many Jack and cokes one night, left CNN on and it was like every 5 minutes another bank was getting bail out money and then the car companies started to get the money. I started designing ads for that season. One of them had in big red type “HEY WANT TO GET RIPPED OFF BY A BUSINESS?” Then under that it said “dont call my company” Of course the night before it all seemed great. I woke up the next morning let the wife read it and she looked at me an said “OK now I know your mental. what the heck are you thinking? People are going to think you are announcing that you will rip them off. Not a good ad this time.”
i completely agree… all day at work we come up with some funny would be headlines but nothing i would attach to one of my mailers…
all in all i was in a funny mood last night and thought i would share a laugh… hearing an idea like that come from my dad was hilarious
