Not 3 months into a 4 year term

I’m wondering how all the people who THOUGHT OBAMA was going to save the world is doing at his job? Interesting to see political financial speech has gone from BILLIONS to TRILLIONS. It’s also interesting that healthcare was a MAJOR campaign platform but that whole issue seems to have fallen to the wayside of all these bailouts. With that said it will be interesting to see since we are paying for the bailouts who will be paying for the healthcare. It seems like there is an endless pit of money but we all know the reality of it is that it’s our money. I’m still willing to give the guy a chance being he has 3 years and 9 months left in his term, but I think these bailouts, mortgage problems and the war is going to take up most of his term. I also thought it was interesting that up to 30000 troops are being sent to Afghanistan and not sent home like promised. This deployment is much like the last boob we had in office. Sent to a combat zone with no clear mission. Not looking to start arguments here, just wondering if you think the promises were mostly hot air? And do you still think he is doing a better job then the last guy?

Didn’t C-SPAN rank Dubya as the 7th worst president in history?

In April 2008, Bush “achieved” the highest disapproval rating of any president in the 70-year history of the Gallup Poll.

Time will tell who did the better job.

You are correct. Time will tell. If I remember correctly, everyone hated Ronny when he left office. Now they love him. Same with Billy boy. Everyone was tired of him running around with his penis out and not running the country. But after he got out, everyone loved him again lol. It will be interesting to see how we view Bushy brain in 10 years.
But I do have this feeling that Obama bit off more then he can chew. Now people are starting to talk about him forcing Timothy Geithner to step down. Man if these guys thought times were tough with the last guy, they have no clue. They are all so under the microscope I would not be surpised to see one get his/her head blown off over the next four years. I know if that happend I would shed little tears.

Who says he wasn’t running the country?

LOL. Well I guess it was a matter of which head was awake in the morning and how far away he could send hillary. lol.

Has any Pres every done all the bull they said they were going to?

Maybe that is one of the good things Bush did do for us?

Well maybe I’m not old enough to remember. But I don’t remember any president having made such grand promises that the public believed in so hard. We all know they lie. But this current president is the only one I have seen that really had/has everyone believe he could pull it off. My wife and I had a couple over during the campaign and they were so dead set that he was going to be able to pull it all off. My wife is from another country so she does not know any better. Sometimes it works for her as she can ask questions that people will forgive her for. When this couple was ranting in MY HOUSE about Obama, my wife asked “How is he going to do all this? I have only been in this country for 5 years but it looks like your politians are no better then mine. They never do what they say they will. Is this guy really going to do all this stuff? How is he going to do it?” With that the man decided it was time for them to go home lol. If for nothing else Bush will most likely be known for the president who got people back to paying attention to there leaders. I know where I live I can’t open the paper without reading about some person interupting some local political dog and pony show. The mayor in my town stated last week, he was thinking of hiring on security as he has gotten death threats and is scared to leave his home and office lol. I think they should all feel scared like that. I’m sure the next time my mayor looks to do something, he is going to make 100% sure it’s good for the town now.

Where’s she from Ray if you don’t mind me asking ?

I don’t mind. She is from Romania/Bucharest. My wife is a city girl and can’t stand where we live. “This is no existence!! Where are the sidewalks? Oh the beach is nice, let’s go. NOW!” lol

In all fairness, the country is a mess. I think it will take almost the whole 4 years for us to see real “change”. I don’t think it matters who is in the white house, you have to start somewhere. Yeah healthcare is important, but if people keep losing their homes and jobs, but have a great healthcare plan, what good is it going to do them. My wife is a mortgage broker and she gets calls all the time from people begging for help cause they are losing their house, not because they bought over their head, but because they lost their job. People who had good jobs like building boats, or working for NASA for 15 years just laid off without notice. Now they cant even refinance because 1) THEY HAVE NO JOB or 2) the value of their house has dropped so much that they are upside down. As far as the war goes, I would love to see them all come home, I have 2 close friends and a cousin who are active military and are in Iraq as we speak, and another friend who trains bomb sniffing dogs for a contractor in Afganistan. Problem is, bring them all home and we have repeats of 9/11 here. I think that if something isn’t done about the economy 1st we are all in trouble. Remember when Katrina hit New Orleans? people went crazy, yeah the place was flooded and people were stranded, but the biggest problem there is the lasting impact on the local economy, people lost houses, they lost jobs, and they are still in bad shape. So, the whole country might not be under water, but it could still be pretty bad. Sorry for rambling, but I think he is on the right track…

I agree he is on the right track. We just have to keep an eye out cause oversight/ownership is kind of an oxymoron. I don’t think we should have bailed out any company. It’s just causing us to move into a different direction that I think this county was not meant to move. It always seems to be more and more government putting it’s hands in my pocket, either to fix something for them, or fix something for my fellow man. I have no problem with giving them my money for either. But they just mismanage it so bad. I would not mind seeing the government be a little more accountable. It’s interesting as the government is now going to put it’s nose into many of our countries companies to make sure they are working towards paying US back. Yet the noses we have in the government who are supposed to watch our money can’t seem to get their own house in order. But they are going to tell these companys how things should work? They really are going to completely screw up this country then the world. But this is the change the people want. I think once the government has it’s hooks in these companies by the time the company is able to pay back the money, the hooks will never be able to be drawn back. You never hear of government giving up part control of anything that makes money. But once again, this is apparently what the public wants. In the end, I see these companies failing anyway. People are already tired of hearing bailout, bailout. So in the end what does the government have? A bank that we have to now pay all the employees? Something is very fishy in that white house…

I’m wondering how everyone feels now? Healthcare YEAH BABY. It will be interesting if this get’s past to see how the larger companies handle their employees and the health care.

Well, everyone else responded to this one, so I might as well too. If you ask any economist, nearly all would say to meet this crisis you should do what Obama is doing. Spend our way out, go into debt big time. The banks won’t lend any money, no one is spending, so that leaves the government and no one else. If Obama hadn’t done what we did, we would be in a depression, not recession.

Which economists say that?

If only Ralph Nader was our President. Obama sweet talked everyone into voting for him. And it seems now people are starting to regret it. Idk maybe he can turn things around. The whole Health care thing gives me a headache. Politics is a shady business.

The same economists in America as here in Uk. The ones that cocked it all up in the first place. The ones that run all the governments in the west. The ones who, despite it all, are still walking away with millions in bonuses…even signing new deals that give them millions if they make profit. How can they not make profits when governments keep giving them money? They are really taking the p***. If governments think it is better to own banks, why not just set up there own?
Makes me laugh anyway. The banks have debts, so the government buys shares to prop them up. But government has no money so it borrows money…from which bank?
Spending will help economies and the small man, yes. But at some point banks will want their return from government who will also want there share from the banks. So where does that leave the taxpayer and his/her money…swapping hands of very clever economists…
Oh well…thank God I just clean windows!

Well I respect your try here. But the fact is after Obama there is going to be a depression. Do some searches on his current spending. I think we are going to be in for a serious nightmare. If the healtcare reform get’s passed you can bet the numbers that get tossed around now will be seen as pennies. The past 6 months in my opinon have been great. People are not using the SPENDING MONEY THEY DON"T HAVE MENTALITY IE Credit. They are spending cash. When you spend cash you spend cash and don’t have to pay an interest on it. Besides who is lending us all this money? China? I don’t know if I want them lending us anything. I do find it interesting that when Bush spent, people hit the roof. Now when they see and hear the numbers floating around they are sitting on their couch with their mouths in their laps. I wonder how many people per day sit back and say in their mind “**** I voted for this guy, what was I thinking? Maybe my boss is right, maybe I am stupid.”
