What all is needed to do pressure washing? I want to add that service to my business but I have no idea what one needs? Also what can you pressure wash and what shouldn’t you pressure wash?
Mike, we got a pressure washing sub-forum here, you might get better response there.
You can also go to THIS forum, lots of experts and lots of good reading there.
First off … If you have never done anytime of pressure washing. Dont even think about touching anybody’s house or business, until youy get a lot of training. You could do thousands of dollars of damage very quickly if you dont know what you are doing. I dont want to discourage anyone from making more money and adding to their business. But you need the training . For your own safety and protection. just my opinion.
No really go ahead give er a shot! Anyone can do it! Go to Sam’s Club get you a 199.00 unit and go blast away at somebody’s deck and watch the wood fly. Or spray somebody’s house and watch the paint run off like milk. I’m not saying that these things happened to us when we first started PW 15 years ago…but they did. We learned the hard way. Do yourself a favor and get alot of practice and learn from others and then offer it later to your customers. Pressure Washing Institute is a sweet forum for PW. Good Luck.
If you want to do things right (in which you should) you should probably spend some money first going to a seminar or two with pressure washing as the topic. And then stop by one of the local pressure washing sales companies near you and talk heavy shop and take some notes from those guys. I’d watch what you buy into from sites that allow anonymous posters (sorry WCR) as people sometimes post things that aren’t necessarily true.
You’ll need about 2 grand to get a decent set up for pressure washing. A 4 gallons per minute, at least 3500 psi and belt driven to keep it from over heating. Get an X-Jet and bucket and watch out for those oxidized aluminum siding homes, composite decks and wood decks. Vinyl siding and gutters are a go always.
Chris & Alex can help you get rocking if you need it. Best of luck as pressure washing is a friend of mine but I didn’t do anything without researching the hell out it first.
Hey thanks for all the advice, I don’t want to learn the hard way!
I learned alot from this forum: www.ptstate.com
But like everyone said, don’t touch a house until you’ve been learned. Maybe practice on your own house or convince a family member to let you try it. Rent a machine from Home Depot or another rental place before you buy one.
Here is a very basic set up to wash houses with. A 3500 psi, 4 gpm, belt driven machine with a mounted hose reel and 150 feet of hose and an X-Jet and X-Jet bucket.
Anyone know of a decent PW 101 type of video for training employees?
