I have an opportunity to bid on an extremely large complex for gutter guards. I am certain I am bidding against gutter helmet style covers. I have never used Rain Flo at all. I have heard it spoken of here often. Both Good and Bad. The bad makes me vey nervous especially on a job this large. I don’t have time to do field testing as I need to get those bid moving quick. So, if I could get a ballpark on price per foot for installation, and some potential pitfalls to the product I would greatly appreciate the help.
i know some people who like rain flo and install it for $10/ft. i personally install leaf defier and charge the same… if you really want the job you can price it a little lower and still make some real decent money, especially when youre bidding against gutter helmet which will charge close to $20/ft. stress the warranty, price and your service… you should have no problem getting the job. good luck!
Some of the pitfalls would be if the roof is very steep, pine trees, the style of gutter hanger and the overhang of the shingles. I haven’t seen it on any of our Rainflo jobs but at a window cleaning customer that had some in a gutter she had replaced on her Gambrel style roof, the water had destroyed it. It will keep the pine needles out but they may stick up and look like the gutter is full. The style of gutter hanger and the overhang of the shingles matter with how long it will take to install. The biggest upside to Rainflo over any helmet style gutter guard is what happens when (not if ) the gutter gets clogged. With Rainflow you can easily remove and replace sections to clean out any debris that may have gotten in. How do you do that with gutter helmets?
Doug we charge 5 - $12 per foot for instillation. Its lower if the roof is walkable and straight runs of gutter.
Its higher if the roof is high and has lots of cuts and corners i g the gutter.
For the month of November we are doing between 500 - 1000 feet of installs per day. Feel free to drop me a line and I can run you through some specifics on how to bid the job.
My figures for the job are 21 buildings with approx 11554 ft of gutters. We priced it for eaves cleaning, but they are also getting prices for gutter protection. Does Rainflo offer a warranty, because I know if they are going to drop that much coin they are going to want some guarantee. I am certain Gutter Helmet offers something.
Yes there is a 20 year product warranty… Its not a guarantee that it wont clog in 20 years. Regardless of what system you go with, it will always require some sort of inspection minor maintenance.
Here is a little something I found, not sure if you knew about it. Check this link:
Gutter Helmet Complaints - Awful company and its products
I googled gutter helmet because I did not know what it was, and seen there were complaints. I googled rain flow complaints and got nothing. Not to say there hasnt been any, but if you read the complaint, it really does change the look of the house, where rain flow does not.
Some sections are going to be tuff with the 40 ft extension ladder. Very high on some sections. With that many ft of gutters would you go with an average price for everything or break it down by height. I could imagine like maybe $7.00 across the board if some go for $10+ per ft?
You might want to break it down into sections with different pricing based on height an cuts in the gutter. Example straight runs are much easier to install so are lower priced.
Is there a minimum amount to buy? I would like to take some over to them to explain the product to them.
Nope NO minimum:
I will send you out a free sample today Doug.
On this page you can get cases of 90 feet as well as 3 foot sections…

With a job this big (if you get it ) Talk to me before you buy. We would be able to give you a massive savings off list.
Cool thanks. Hopefully they will be impressed and want to give it a shot.
Doug,
how did you make out with this rain-flo job?
