We have a large amount of 1 story homes here in vegas , I would say more than half our book of clients are in a single story home . The way 2 story homes are designed, wfp is not an option. Would take same amount of time and the water is super hard here .
But youāre correct I would probably have to push for screen jobs more, if I was to stop offering 2 story cleanings . At least for the start , hopefully I can figure it out soon
I love what youāre doing! It takes courage and determination but is SO worth it! I started my business back up in August of 2020, when we were still in peak COVID times. In April this year I finally quit my full-time retail management job and committed to my WC business as my main source of income. Itās been a fantastic journey full of wins and plenty of lessons, and I wouldnāt trade it for any regular job! The freedom of being my own boss is unbeatable, and the work can be very rewarding, as Iām sure you already know. How many people get to see instant results of their labor and keep all the profits for themself?!
I always tell people, Iām only as old as I feel.
Take care of your body and your body will take care of you. Cheers!
Sort of the same economy for me. I started mine in December 2008, 5 months after I broke my back and also at the end of the recession. It was a struggle those first couple of years but so worth it to be my own boss and in control of my income. I quickly discovered to target customers with disposable income and how to judge which properties to aim for and which to pass by - unless they called me from word of mouth or seeing me in the neighborhood. I even got a few calls from folks who said they got my number from the auto magnets on my truck at a traffic light. Hint: Putting you brand on your vehicle works. If you choose not to wrap - like I choose not to - then have magnets made up for your door panels.
I have been doing it full-time for 20 years. I turn 60 next year and I still climb ladders, and wfp. In fact, I always do the dangerous stuff because I donāt want to put my employees in harms way. Unless I encounter some unexpected health problems, I feel like I could keep doing this another 10 years. If I were you, I would definitely go for it, I donāt think age is a a factor at all. Just my 2c.
Iām 73, cleaning for 13 yrs but last 2 mostly in the office. 9 of us in the company. I can outwork any tech I haveā¦for about 4 hrs for about 4 days.
I will be 62 in a couple months and am still climbing ladders and roofwalking. I have noticed a decrease in stamina the last couple of years but part of that might be die to pensions showing up and losing a bit of the āhave toā mind set.
I have been finding if I do stretches on hands, wrists, neck for a few minutes when I get up I donāt have pain from repetitive stress.
48 is young, still almost 20 years before you collect a pension here in Canada. Many options to make it easier on your body. Be selective with your work, sub out stuff, work towards hiring someone. In 20 years you could be sitting at a desk cashing checks, or you could be cleaning windows, both are great depending on your goal.
