Rookie with WFP needs help

I am new to this site (wonderfull site) and I just bought a used water fed pole. I am learning as I go and you tube. I am using resin and I just bought a TDS meter. obviously it should read 0.
At what level does the resin start to leave water marks on windows so I need to change them.

thanks for any help anybody can give me

It depends on whats in the water it could spot at 10 or 20 sometimes you could get to 40…

But the best rule of thumb is to change it at 10 ppm or tds reading

Hello Rookie,

I have been told you can USE RO Water till it gets to 10 Parts Per Million, But I change my tanks when it gets to 1 because I have found that the tank goes from 1 to 10 in a matter of minutes (this is with a small .50 MB tank form Ionics). This is with an average TDS before Resin of about 26 . Your TDS before resin in your area may be different so it may happen quicker.

Welcome to WFP,

I have been checking customers TDS on just about every job. The other day, I checked a house and the tds coming out of a garden hose was 021. I was like wow, so I soaked down a basement door that I had already cleaned with my wfp. I came back 10 minutes later and the doorglass was spotless.

If you search around on this site you will find all kinds of posts about successful wfp results with tds readings ranging from 010 to over 050. Like has been said, it all depends on what the solids that are present, actually are. Some leave spots, some don’t.

I make my water at home so I am not particularly familiar with just using DI tanks. But I have read plenty of posts here, where guys have a second tank or refill resin on hand, in case a DI goes south during a job.

Good Luck,
