This episode of The Window Cleaning Podcast is worth a listen. Scratched Glass??

https://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/window-cleaning-podcast/id1188083607?mt=2&i=1000385194609

They started the podcast Dec 2016
Sounds like they’re in Ireland

If you clean windows long enough you are going to run into bad glass and scratch it. A waiver is for your protection. I talk to window cleaners everyday and it happens more than you think.

It’s a first class podcast for window cleaners, they’re from Ireland. Just discovered it. Lots of great content. Theyre shooting for one episode a week.

I have $3,000 in CCC coverage. You can only purchase up to $10,000 with my agency… It doesn’t seem like enough

Yes for scratch waiver…CYA

What’s CCC?

Care Custody and Control. If you scratch a window, your insurance will not cover it unless you have CCC coverage. If you throw a ladder through a window, then you’re covered.

I just asked my insurance agent about this yesterday. He said CCC normally comes in 3 packages, $1,000,
$3,000, or $5,000. Apparently, I’ve got $3,000 in coverage… I told him, “That’s like one sliding door… I’m working with tens of thousands, if not hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of glass on this one job.”

It’s FUN dealing with insurance companies, right?!

To get all the coverage you need, you have to be well versed and a bit smarter than the agent you are working with. That, or have a lawyer on retainer that knows what coverage you need, and show him your policy…

It’s a shame that insurance is such an expense, and so difficult to deal with.

If something scratches you STOP right there. Don’t continue the same practice that scratched one, on 50 more, and you may avoid $100,000.

@Henry has talked in the past about how scratches caused by dislodged debris can be nearly invisible at first, but then grow to the point of being an eyesore a day or more later. It’s similar to how the crack in your windshield can grow over time. But instead of the scratches lengthening, they “widen”

IIRC, acids used in hardwater restoration can also magnify scratches.

Pretty scary stuff. You could do a whole house post construction clean on custom-ordered tempered glass that doesn’t have the tempering stamps, use your razor on all of it. Think you’re in the clear, and then two weeks later get the call that everything is scratched up horribly

That would be horrible!
