I love having everything I need to re-screen and build screens on site. Doing it on site makes it WAY more profitable. Even just adding 1 re-screen which is $22 for us and takes less than 7 minutes is a huge profit booster.
Those types of screens are a great add on.
I just ran into a situation today with PGT insert screens for casement windows. You can’t get the plastic corners for them if they break (which plastic will do over time!) from any of the local window suppliers. And PGT makes them proprietary and need the work order for the window that was installed so PGT can make a new screen to fit that window. There is a 6 month backlog! I was able to secure two screens for free from one window company which had them laying around that were sized wrong, so they gave them to me since PGT resent them 2 more and didn’t want these back. What a complete pain!
$22 per mesh change, right?
Right. Add for replacing corners tabs or springs, add for replacing sides, $55 to build a whole new screen.
That’s within my range. I only did it once and still care the kit in my car just in case. Usually, they shy away from it.
Last year we did $8,589 in screen repair.
Liky guys! I still cary my screen set in my tiny Corolla just in case. I guess, I am just not good at marketing. Need to work on it.
Screen repair is a great add on. I’ve had people call me just to repair screen then I sell them window cleaning as an add on. Great stuff
How did you guys get started doing screen repair? Any good resources on it, or just trial and error? Anything to watch out for if we want to add it as a services in the future? I’ve always kind of been scared of it as well.
I got started because I broke a screen and had to fix it.
Watch some videos about it, but really it comes with practice. Be prepared to have to rip out the screen you just got 3/4 in and start over.
