Securing Sectionals

I have been contemplating how to incorporate sectionals into my rig and I remembered that WCR has a device for securing an extension ladder to a ladder rack. My question is - will this work to secure a 3 piece set of sectionals to the top of my rig?

Yes

I think it would depend on how far apart the racks are and how long the sectionals are.
We have always driven econolines and lately and express, sectionals fit perfectly inside, either stacked on the floor or hanging on ladder hooks on the wall

I have been using these securing devices for a number of years. I think you can hold 5 sectional pieces on each clamp. I had to cut mine down due to height restrictions, but once you have them, you will never use bungees or rope or chains again. Well worth the money & a time saver.

I have to agree with Pat. They fit nicely inside a van. Safely locked up and dry inside.

I need to get one of those tubes for the top of the van to store my poles in. Then I may be able to fit some sectionals inside.

The clamps are lockable. I wouldn’t risk the poles other than in a metal tubing carrier. Lets face it - if it’s raining anyway, your ladders will still get wet.

After thinking about it, the real reason I like the ladders inside isn’t the rain it’s the snow and ice.

Karl, I wasn’t questioning the usefulness of the clamps, but if you have 6ft sectionals and your roof racks are 7ft apart on the truck, They would not work, or is there a way to use just one?

They should work on my van.

On one of my old work truck the racks were too far apart. I simply added a piece of angle iron in between to fix the problem.

You could put another strut in there? Or if you have a flat-bed truck & you lower just one end in the bed - yes 1 clamp would do it. By the way you get 2 clamps with each purchase. If you could post a pic of your van or typical style I might be able to provide a solution

Just give me a few weeks to tidy it and I will post one:o, although my racks would work fine, I just prefer having them inside , and the racks are kinda full, with a 24, 28, 32,36 and 40 and a pole holder

 I know that tidy van problem all to well :o

From what I recall, the clamps will take 5/6 sections - not too sure as I cut mine down. Perhaps Chris or Alex will have a look. Just count your sections & you’ll see how many sets you’ll need. These clamps are lifelong lasting, they may just need a touch of lubricant once every 5 years on the thread. Once you have a pair - you’ll never use anything else, they are major time-savers & great for safety besides being lockable.
