I’m designing a sign for my van to go on the cargo door windows.
I want to advertise hard water removal, or at least make them think and relate to my company later when they get home and look at their windows, I’m sure I’ll make someone go and look.
I was thinking something like “Got sprinkler damaged windows?” Distribution will be 2 or 3 lines spanning all the way within the rear doors in white (have dark tinted windows as background)
Does that make sense or is completely off ? Keep in mind that needs to be somethign really simple, don’t want someone rear-ending me because they kept reading (it’d be great to have that much attention)
EDIT: Forgot to mention that down on the bottom of the window I’ll try to replicate the look of a heavily stained window, I have some frosted vinyl laying around here.
I want to be a little more specific, and based on what I see everyday on the field, I can say that 90%+ of the houses we clean have some sort of sprinkler effects over the windows, and most important, customers know and can identify the problem, which doesn’t happen very often.
Better than the one I posted Micah, but still not really straight to the point. With that one I can bet anything you want that I’d get a call about a quote for sprinkler installation before the sun goes down
I think Micah is on the right track. I don’t think people have the time to do a lot of reading while they are driving. We want them to read all the stuff on our trucks but I really don’t think they do. The best trucks have a great logo a phone number and a little bit of info, very little. JMO
Mike, that’s exactly what I have right now and I really like it, but this “new” sign will go on the back of the van, ideally it will be read while waiting on traffic lights or stuck in traffic. Also I want to change the sign seasonally, to offer different services.
Remember that whatever you choose, simplicity will be remembered. You want them to associate you w/ hard water spot removal but most of them might not even know what the spots are from so all they are thinking about is getting the spots out. The “Got Milk?” campaign is remembered by people today because of it’s simplicity. That’s what you need to catch their attention.
Sounds like a good plan. My old boss Jay Kennedy of Kennedy Carpet Cleaners in Weymouth Massachusetts did that. He has more than 15 truck mounts, very successful guy. He put the decal ad on the back windows of the vans. He used white lettering. His trucks are lettered very simplely and EVERYBODY knows who his name. (less is more)
A common home-owner doesnt know what hard water stains are. You have to think as the customer not as the window cleaner…So if I was you I would probably go with something like stubborn stains or something that the customer could better understand. When my fiance thinks of hard water stains she thinks of an old shower door that hasnt been cleaned in years. Not water marks on a bay window.
Around here is the opposite, that’s why I want to approach this using the sprinklers as the cause. Most people refer to it as calcium more than hardwater stains. And don’t forget that the main goal here is not to sell glass restoration, is give them something to remember my company.
