Is this a reoccurring account? In and out? Just outside? First floor? Second floor?

1st floor only. Outside only. He wants bi-weekly. Inside once a month

I would charge $45 for the month (2x cleanings a month) then bill at the end of each month.

That’s it 45$ so almost 22$ to do 10 windows?

Route work is pretty competitive, plus it is only 10 windows… Shouldn’t take more than 15-20 minutes for the outside

I wouldn’t go higher than $60 for the month if $45 sounds too low for your market

So are you also to do the Knowledge Points side? I’m not quite understanding where the 8 windows figure is coming from. And they’re definitely divided panes on the outside? Sorry if it comes across as patronizing.

Not at all. I’m new as new can be. More determined to learn and grow more than anything. Knowledge points???

Dan, oh!! You know the building??

Oh, I did not know you can see the name if you zoom in on the picture. No I was only doing one side. It was 10 windows, six doors with French panes. Is it normal to have French panes that is one piece of glass and the wood/plastic faux piece allows water to slowly drip down. It took FOREVER to do the job. Windows had the same issue.

Dan,

That was a tough one. IT was 10 windows and 6 doors with fake french panes. I don’t own a WFP and all that DI stuff. traditional tools, traditional ladder and it took me about 3 hours. I only did the outside and did the screens as well. i noticed there was some hard water stains which i will let the customer know i can take care of next time but that’s not included in the $70 a month i am charging. it was brutal because the plastic fake french thing doesn’t come off the door and it was super time consuming making sure no more water dripped down that was stuck between the glass and the plastic divider.

Next time do side pulls on the doors and use as little water as possible. That’s the only trick to those fake pane doors that drip through like that

A can of computer/ keyboard cleaner will help blow excess water from the fake true devided light windows and a quick wipe down, done

Humm, that’s a great idea. I can also see using those cans to blow out the dirt in tracks. Might have to stock up on some cans.

Not to knock anyone’s technique on French windows (fake or true cut ups) but a rag in hand technique with a spray bottle, even if you have the fanciest glass cleaner or the purest of water, the customer simply sees a spray bottle and towel… I’m sure most just think “I can do that”

I personally would never make my professional job look like something a homeowner could do themselves. That just makes them second guess my service, prices, and business choices.

Mike, hey bud I completely feel where your coming from. You can find similar posts in years past that I have personally made just like yours.
I thought any use of a can would seem unprofessional which has always been my goal to stay away from. But after hearing so many speak of Sprayaway on interior frenchies and such I figured I would give it a shot. Done properly with a small scrubber and squeegee, I have found it to be another tool in our arsenal and have found more cleaning uses for it other than windows that save my guys time and adds more revenue. It’s all in the approach and how customer relations are taken care of that says whether we are professional or not. If a customer ever asks what to use between service I don’t recommend any can or bottle but little RO water and clean microfiber. This also helps add to our professional image we try very hard to protect.
My point isn’t to critique your comment, I respect your opinion, a lot actually since it mirrors my own from past threads and conversations. But sometimes trying something new may just be a ticket to time savings with the same results you currently work hard to provide. Remember too, they see our Squeegee’s and scrubbers and think “I see those at Home Depot.” Sure we know it’s not even the same tools but our customer doesn’t. They may even have tried to use a squeegee. Why did they hire you or me or any of us then? Because it’s all int the execution and technique that brings good results.

Jeremiah

Yeah, but the first time they try and clean those grids, they’ll want to hire it out. Heck, when I do those grids I want to hire it out.

But… I’ve been thinking about private label sprayaway. It’s definitely something that would set you apart: “I’ve got my own brand of foaming cleaner.” Private label is about 1700 bucks so it’s something that I’m budgeting for.

Not to mention: people will toss coffee cups, magnets, brochures, but they’ll stick that cleaner under their sink and will think of you every time they go to get something. They will NOT throw cleaner away and, in my mind, that’s the best leave behind there is.
