Streaks on the top of my S-TURNS?

I really like having a consistent solution. I get that w/ a floater bottle and GG4. Even if I used the floater bottle w/ dish soap I couldn’t because every batch of dish soap isn’t consistent from the manufacturer. I understand for guys that do storefront that this isn’t important to them. I do resi and it’s vital to me from a customer satisfaction standpoint.

Yeah I was waiting for it Tony.

Has this been tested, proven to be fact, and documented that dish soap is inconsistent from the manufacturer or simply your opinion?

I use dish soap and actually get a very consistent mix every time by using a measuring spoon. For resi I just mix up a five quart batch that I later pour into 32 oz. flip top bottles. It’s the same every time,at least no noticeable difference that is.

I used GG4 for 4 years and have nothing against it at all other than the lack of glide issue. Both GG4 and dish soap work well for cleaning windows. Having used GG4 for so long, I really don’t buy into all of the hype about it. It cleans windows well. So does Dawn dish detergent.

I truly feel that it’s simply a matter of preference. Neither one is wrong.

Soap war, take cover!

I try to find the reference where I read this Richard.

Tony, I actually read a post on Gary’s World just a couple of days ago making the claim that dish soap manufacturers do not make consistent batches of detergents. I had never heard anyone make that very claim until this week.

I don’t notice any variation in the Dawn dish detergent that I use. I guess nothing’s absolutely perfectly consistent (even GG4), but if there is a variation in dish detergents it’s not enough to be a real issue. If it was then dish detergent would not be used by highly successful companies like All
County Window Cleaning.

These soap debates are fun and we can bust each others chops just for the sake of a healthy debate but at the end of the day, they both (GG4 & Dish detergent) work really well for cleaning windows.

YEAH!!! WHAT HE SAID!! TAKE THAT TONY!! SO you can take your gg4 and…and…yeah! DAWN FO LIFE! All the Dawn dogs throo it up " D "

I think we now have a tag team!!!

And you’re still outnumbered.
If you are doing storefront then it probably doesn’t matter. I will stand by the fact that on residential you get better, longer lasting results from GG than from dish soap. It’s a residue thing then and we know dish soap leaves more of a residue than GG.

Here’s the link to the MSDS for Dawn - http://www.head-start.lane.or.us/administration/documents/MSDS/Dawn%20Liquid%20Hand%20Dishwashing%20Detergent.pdf
If you notice in section II the info on ethyl alcohol says it varies from 1% to 6% that will definitely affect the consistency of your solution.
As for ACWC using dish soap it has much more to do w/ having employees and waste then the performance of dish soap. Chris himself said if it was just him he’d use GG instead.
All this aside you’ll keep using dish soap and I’ll keep using GG4 and we’ll both think the other guy is silly and a bit stubborn. Still it’s nice to have a little fun at times huh?

.

GG4 has absolutely no glide until you add Glide or Slick and that stuff creates residue. Titan labs does not reccomend using any additives for this very reason.

Here’s a fact. If you use GG4 or Dish soap with the squeegee method you are going to leave a residue on the glass. Adding glide or slick to GG4 will increase the amount of residue left on glass. It would take a pure water rinse to get all of the residue off no matter what soap you use.

Another fact. Both GG4 and Dawn dish detergent clean glass very well.

I think that GG4 users are pre-occupied with coming up with enough reasons to justify thier buying and using GG4 and the necesarry Glide additives required to make it perform as well as dish detergent.

I’ve never seen any documentation proving that GG4 makes windows stay cleaner longer.

I still say GG4 is a bunch of hype. But if it makes you happy then you should definitely use it. I’m completely happy with Dawn so I use it. No additives needed, great glide, clean glass, happy customers, money in the bank, no hype, no problem.

Chris is a very smart guy and a great business man who just happens to sell GG4 in his window cleaning supply store. If I were him I’d make the same statement concerning GG4 vs Dish detergent.

Fair enough. I have heard from a few wcers who did side by side test w/ dish soap and GG and they could tell a difference in resoiling. I think I’ll do my own test and post a video on the results.

That will be cool! But I must say that even if the results turned out in favor of GG4 on the windows staying cleaner longer, I’d still stick with Dawn for the wonderful glide it provides while cleaning windows as well as the GG4 (with additive) I used for 4 years.

Will your test be a solution of GG4 only or GG4 with an additive for glide? I would never be interested in using GG4 alone. That would be ridiculous.

Just for you Richard I’ll add some Winsol Super Slip and test it that way.

Cool! Thank you! Thank you very much!
