Why would there be a landscaping issue on a small house

Yes I said 199.00 for 20 casements it’s right here in the estimate those are Bermuda windows they take longer.

This is very simple. If they tell me they have a small house with Minimal windows . I ask how many an what type , then guide them through it. Ask the right questions. Them I tell them this is a ball park based on what your telling me. If for some reason it’s different we will have to adjust the price accordingly . Most importantly I email them an estimate with exactly what they told me. I let them know there will be an xtra charge for extremely dirty windows, Or storm windows , French windows etc.

I have adjusted the price plenty of times , and of course there is the occasional thanks but no thanks.

That’s that its a small house I don’t think they can not understand there in s small house. If they start telling me they have different types of windows yada yada Yada then I’m going there . If they get lost or don’t understand what they have them I’m going.
On small houses most people know what they have around here it’s either casements or double hungs . I’m not driving 30 min out of my way for a 200 -250 job. If not needed

TBH maybe this year I priced 6 over the phone 5 worked out one didn’t . It has to be someone who :

1. is willing to go through the the questions
2. Who is competent

Believe me I’ve pull the plug half way through. Ya know " hmm One in the bedroom two in carols room oh no wait what are casements again. " Ok I’ll just come over no worries.

When your busy I’d rather try over the phone for a small house if it fails it fails. When I’m slow I’m going there. That’s all

Yes, that’s typically how it goes. I just typed a general idea of how it goes. I just had a $199 job that turned into a $450 job after getting there. Explained every step and why the price difference and that her french panes didn’t qualify for the $199. And her pella windows with the removable inner pane were going to be extra. It was not a problem and she gladly wrote the check when we were done.
I have also had the occasional “thanks but no thanks” but asking the right questions and customer education over the phone has been beneficial for me and saved me a lot of time. As a small, new company it has allowed me to focus that time in other areas.

My main question when someone says 20 windows is are they storms , pella are the extremely dirty. Are they French windows. 20 windows is 20 windows if you have 25. Then you will be charged for 25. Not rocket science

Anything over 20 I’m going there unless it’s 25 lol

Thanks you !! I have done the pella thing a couple of times in my earlier days. No way I’m eating that mistake. Just explain the will understand. I’m even talking about estimating at the house I’ve done it. Explained an they understood

Why are we all so afraid of the customers. I’m human there human misunderstandings an mistakes happen

If I’m pricing over the phone here is another thing I say. I’m going to do the best I can it’s going to be a ballpark based on what your telling me.

I think it was last year lady said small house. I said do you mind taking s picture of front an back. She sent all 4 sides. She was really nice an I could tell that she was ok with it. If not oh well I’ don’t walk on eggshells . Im professional yes personable yes , but also it is what it is.

anyone who texts me if its a big job and i get suspicious for any reason e.g. "your price is a bit high " ,"if you are good we will use you again " i then reply text that it must be cash up front paid before we start .no cheques , cash as in notes , repeat after me,cash is that understood youve got plenty of time to get it theres no way we start unless, ok ?

over here in England 9 times out of 10 its an Asian texting trying hard to get a dirt cheap job .
